The Coolidge Effect ... Does the theory mentioned apply to most of the men reading this?

I've no doubt it's real, just haven't experienced it personally.

Frankly, I'm surprised that it wasn't until Coolidge that someone actually named it. It's fairly apparent that, in all species, the male is designed in a way that compels procreation. It is embedded in our human nature both as a physical need and a psychological instinct; our libido. As we evolved, we became more civil about it and incorporated an invaluable emotional tool, love, into the process to facilitate matters, but the end result was the same. Even today, most woman will agree with two common axioms; "Women use sex to get love and men use love to get sex" and " A women needs a reason to have sex; a man just needs a place".

This is exactly why I plan to re-elect Calvin Coolidge or at least get him on the write-in ballot.
I would say it applies to me somewhat. But I am not visiting a different provider or sampling the globe if you will. I like to visit the very few providers I've established a rapport with and very rarely I'll step outside that zone and meet a new provider, if things go well I'll probably start visiting her, if it's nothing spectacular or no rapport I guess that's when you can chalk it up to the Coolidge effect!

Strange does not drive my participation in this thing of ours..... but having the varied options does play a part.

Kinda like walking into a doughnut shop...... I won't be eating every single one in the damn shop, but its nice to know I can grab a Jelly anytime I want and not just a cake doughnut every single time.

As far as the programming to spread our seed explaining strange etc..... Yes, that is why animals are like they are. However, IMO people use that as an excuse for their own lack of self control and dedication to their commitments. Animals are expected to only behave as they are programmed. What sets humans apart from animals is our intelligence and ability to go beyond that instinct. So while we still may be animals, that does not mean we have no choice or ability to go beyond that instinct should we choose to do so.

So IMO infidelity is a choice... not an instinct, for humans.

Yet if a hen serviced multiple roosters she'd be labeled with all kinds of deragatory names. If the shame field were removed would there be a Mrs. Coolidge effect as well? I do looooove those cougars.

If there were more than one rooster, would the hens choose a different one everytime?
A wise man went to the store with a young man whose wife was pregnant with their second. It had been back to back. He'd gotten the one in between them. The wise man said maybe you need to unload the gun a little before you shoot next time. A beautiful woman walked past them and the young man turned and said "That's what I need right there. But my wife would kill me and I'm terrible at picking up women,"
The wise man didn't even turn around to look, pulled up ECCIE on his phone and gave it to the kid. "You can rent those. It's a lot less trouble and all you have to say is please and thank you."
If my wife ever gave me some it would be some "STRANGE".

BTW: Did Calvin Coolidge approve this ad?

Indulging the Coolidge effect had been a way of life for me until about a year ago. I guess it all depends on how you feel about the one you are with.

If my dick got as much pussy as my eyeballs, I wouldn't even need Eccie.

Great topic worthy of coed discussion. I know that "men" are conquerors and it is especially true with women. I hobby because I want what I can't have. I am always attracted to the opposite sex and in RW I know there are women I want that I just can't have. I believe as Hellion stated that men can detach the act from real intimacy. I can love a woman with all my heart, but that does not keeping from lusting after another woman. Originally Posted by b2pop

I feel like if I had a super hot 18 year old girl, I would probably think I could love just her - until the sex was finished, then I would contemplate other women - just the way I am.
The great former local radio philosopher, Greg "The Hammer" Williams, used to say, "It doesn't matter who the chick is, you'll find someone who is tired of her". The statement usually followed a story about a celebrity breakup involving a really hot woman. Originally Posted by TinMan
