You're right DL. I'm really old. I grew up watching boxing with my father in the late fifties. My dad would let me take a couple of sips of his (one) beer - Pabst. Ali, who I have met is the greatestest boxer of all time. I won a golden gloves city championship, so I kinda know of where I speak. Frazier was not the smoothness of ALI - but a GREAT puncher. Reminds me of the videos of Dempsey.

Contrasting styles make for a good fight. The Ali/Frazier trilogy will go down as some of the best fights ever. Both men left everything they had inside the ropes. Neither one was the same after Manila

No one has ever seen a fighter like George Forman either. He would have chewed up Mike Tyson the same way he demolished Frazier. Forman came back 20 years later and knocked out Michael Moorer to reclaim the title at the age of 45. He was a monster when he was 25.

I've often wondered what a fight between Mike Tyon and Joe Frazier would have been like or if it would be fun to watch. Their styles were simular. My money would be with Frazier because he had more heart.

Ernie Shavers
Ron Lile
Ken Norton
George Forman
Larry Holmes
Mike Dokes
Jimmy Young
Mike Weaver
They all could take your head off.

Mike Tyson couldn't carry Joe Fraziers jock strap. Originally Posted by TheDaliLama

The greatest heavyweight fight ever: Ron Lyle v George Foreman. Multiple knockdowns. All Offense, No Defense. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96KfeAFakak

May you stay forever young Joe Frazier.
Every young upcoming HeavyWeight should be required to watch that fight. Two really big men with awsome power.

Todays Heavyweights are just a joke. A fight usually consist of two big guys pawing at each other for some rounds, then the pre-ordained "winner" is declared.

Any of you old enough to see Marciano fight. We used to gather around the radio and listen, it was actually a big event. This was for the HeavyWeight Championship of the World.

Now, with all of the multiple tiltles, it's just a cheap sideshow.
