Burner app. You don't need a second phone. You pay 5 bucks a month and you can turn off text/call alerts.

It's the simplest, most discreet and cheapest solution.

Old type burner flip, take out battery when not in use. -
T-Mobile prepaid phone, you can pick them up anywhere for about 15$
they charge 3$ a month for 30 min of talk or 30 txt msgs any thing over is 10cents a min or txt.
You can buy a 20$ refill card for cash and it will last you a few months.
Just have to make sure no one finds it.
Burner phone paid in cash and make it a dumb phone, not a smart one because the old dumb ones do not have embedded GPS or ways for someone to track you. Plus, its cheaper and easier to just toss the dumb phone. Do not use an app on your personal phone - you want to keep as much separation from your real world and hobby life. Apps like Google voice can sometimes reveal your real phone number. Originally Posted by plainjoe

How can G voice reveal your real phone number?

In android phones you can redirect any apps traffic through the TOR and it is impossible to be tracked unless the person tracking you is jesus or Santa .
Sideline is great!
Had not considered the ability to activate phone remotely. Guess I will jus keep it in an old lead lined film bag ........ that should handle that.

Apologies for the delayed response.
Google Voice should have worked out the issues of revealing RL numbers by now...however, remember, it's Google and Google collects every bit of information, data, etc. So it will be able to associate your "hobby" number with your RL number, and figure out how to link your GMAIL and LinkedIn, etc. Best to minimize the association by using a separate, dumb, hobby phone, that as Rexdutchman recommends, where you can take out the battery...
Paranoid? Probably, but why leave it to chance?
