A former special Op's guy called in to Rush's show with his take on why Obama didn't use military force. He said Obama was terrified that a rescue mission might have failed like Carter's failed rescue attempt in Iran. Obama feared the political consequences of a botched military strike so close to an election.

Obama was betting he could lie about the nature of the attack, and get away with it till after the election. It looks like he bet wrong.

Panetta's defense is calling the criticism "monday morning quarterbacking"...that won't fly, not after weeks of lying and deception by the WH.
