This site us a lot less active, but it's great for references. Getting rid of ads almost killed the website.

A lot of the good posters left. A lot of the trolls left as well though. I still find this site useful, and I'll be here until they turn it off.

The servers are hosted in the Netherlands.

Seems fairly simple to me - the servers are hosted in Texas, the owner(s) live in Texas - therefore anything done here must follow Texas law. Doesn't matter where the users are located. Originally Posted by Nerdfun

Us hobbiest had it made from 2008 to 2015. For those 7 years, there were more providers than hobbiest. Then the feds started cracking down on the sides, probably rightfully so with some of the activities that were ongoing.

The economy picked up, and for the last 6 years the hobbiest has been treated with rising rates, limited providers and mediocrity service.

Then Covid hit, since most hobbiest are in the age where they could be affected by Covid, demand dried up, at the same time, PPP and a bunch of stimulus came threw.

Once the stimulus goes away it might be fun to be a hobbiest again.
