It's supposed to be a HOBBY not a job interview!

Well-written and beautifully stated Kristen - kinda says it all. I think Client and Provider owe it to each other to be as safe as possible and that means honesty.

References, I get them. They are for the safety of the entire community, Providers AND Hobbyists. I have no problem providing references if a lady asks to see them but is there a limit? The unofficial standard seems to be two recent and verified (ie no CL or BP) references. Occasionally I'll notice a provider who seems to want three or MORE references! What is even more frustrating is when they start asking for more personally identifying information. I have no problems giving my ECCIE handle, a simple name, and obviously the phone number I will be contacting from. But some providers are asking for a thorough physical description (which to me says NBA), a FULL name, job information, and occasionally age (as if I couldn't just make up a number?) I have so far refused to see any provider who takes the appointment process this far. It's not so much that I'm concerned about giving away too much information, I just don't like turning this into a process more complicated than getting a car loan! There a far too many ladies out there I can see with a few short e-mails or a simple phone call. Originally Posted by Charlie Foxtrot

It's not that I won't give a reference, if I remember the gentlemen. I refuse to keep any records of ANY kind including emails, personal information including notes on our time spent together. I find those providers who want to know how a client smelt a little annoying. Not only that --I refuse to keep those records that may come back to bite myself or client in the ass just to make your job easier. AND remember if they want to set up a sting they will have all the necessary references, including and not limited to 'board' membership....(southewest companions, escorts.com, and one in Ala that was ran by the feds........)and job verification and provider verification...

So very true Jackie...if you follow history, it is always the written word that takes people down, and those who are trying to do that look so very stellar on paper...but, as I said before, it doesn't mean don't screen, but really why in the world would a woman in this profession tell anyone in written form details that would actually verify later in a court room that it was that person undisputeably...(I know I spelled that wrong, ugh...)...what I'm saying is that I so agree with you..... For many this will never be a possibly, but I always remember, it's the net, those emails can float to anyone...and I mean anyone...and naivety is no defense...whether you are willing to pay the consequences for security that is lacking or not...you will....I know that sounds dramatic, but anyone trying to do anything unsavory can try for years, and fail...no consequence, we only have to fail once, and it's all over...

P411, take it or leave it but that's all the info and OK's a new lady will ever get from me. If I miss out on a few gems because of it....oh well, my loss!
I understand the need for references. And I'll admit it was frustrating at first(I'm self employed). But once I got P411 and few ladies that were refernce friendly, I haven't had a single problem. Not meant to sound like and ad for P411, but every lady I've met loves it. It's instant. they dont have to track someone down, etc.I don't know about datecheck or rs2k, but i would guess the same, I just don't see as much activity on those. Just my 2cents.

I'm a member of p411. If the provider wants more than that then she will have to get it from someone else

In the last 30 days I have forwarded 3 references, name cell phone number and ECCIE handle to 5 providers. Never heard a thing, nor did they check with the references! If the screening is that complicated, so will the session be! Pass and move on!

For newbies, I know screening can be a problem. Other than the obvious of researching "newbie friendly" provider, this is my advice. Works for non-newbies as well. Get to know the provider you are interested in. Be respectful. Strike up an intelligent conversation other than "how can I get into your panties". Make that personal connection. If you do this prior to actually setting a firm time/location, you may have hit it off well enough to reduce the screening process or eliminate it altogether. If you can hit it off with the right providers, your screening process just got that much easier. If you have a good recommendation with providers, word gets around. One provider has already told me that I don't need screening--my reputation on ECCIE is good enough. I'm not trying to brag or anything. I'm just saying that being a gentleman throughout the entire process goes along way to gaining respect.
