Here is a new wrinkle from someone I work with; those two dead ex SEALs who died on the Maersk Alabama were guarding something that was supposed to be on that plane heading for China.

Or how about this; Four of the passengers held patent rights on a new kind of coded semiconductor which was approved the day after the plane disappeared. That leaves one remaining person (who was not on the plane) to take possession of a multi-billion dollar property.

China also wanted the technicians on the flight so they kidnapped them and made the plane disappear. The wreckage will show up at some point and the kidnapped engineers will be presumed dead with everyone else.
