HomeDepot has Dr T's SnakeAway that is crushed mothballs. Comes in a gallon sized container, sprinkle near house first then out towards edge of yard.

Chases snakes away and make keep the other critters out.

If you had a big dog that thought it was a big dog, it could help keep the critters out. Or a small dog that thought it was a big enough dog.

Cats or rabbits probably.

Insects you should find some sort of sign, eggs, larve...also a peculiar pattern of chewing on leaves.

Most likely rabbits but could be deer. In this country, you have to have a fence. Nothing else works. Five to six foot high fence for deer; two foot high barrier fence for rabbits. Nothing will keep coons out, but they don't eat much.

GET A FENCE! All those home remedies don't work. Deer eat mothballs when they're hungry.

I do have a fence I am pretty sure it's not deer. My back yard is surrounded by four other yards as well. It is something small for sure. Seems likely a rabbit after giving it some more thought.

Hey Bailey Girl! Rabbits can get through some pretty small holes. But it does sound like the little varmints. I've have a 40 x 40 garden every year and end up dealing with some sort of pest or another every year. Fencing was about the only way to keep them cute little rabbits out. The key time is the 1st 3 weeks or so, so they can get established and grown.

Nothing like a woman that likes to get dirty!!!! Maybe I should come and see what you have going?

Be sure and treat your melons tenderly as they are susceptible to early bruising.

Its probably a raccoon. I have had problems with them uprooting my potted plants. They like to dig in loose soil and look for grub worms. Don't leave any pet food outside or they will be back looking for food every night.. I solved my problem by sprinkling cayenne pepper around my plants.
