I tend to stop and help if I see someone stranded. But then, I'm 6'2, 280# and I carry.

of course. and if you happen to auto insure with usaa they provide roadside, or if your lexus is still in warranty just ring up stevo at sewell and he will save u.

all that failing or if you are the rescuer... as mentioned go with you're gut. but I would add the gun. gut 'n gun if u da helper. Sad state of affairs but that's today's world. unfortunately helping and picking up strangers is really an iffy judgement call today. I would not even think about it with out a loaded piece, and ladys...no way do you pick up people unless it's a realitive, just sayin.

Yes, I do. I try to use good sense. I guess I wouldn't go it in a bad neighborhood at 2:30 a.m., but then again, I'm not in a bad neighborhood in any event at that time. I don't really think twice about it unless there is something that looks very out of the ordinary.

One time there was a guy on 635 that I saw was trying to get to his car on the other side of 635 to fill it up with the gas that he had gone to get. The poor guy couldn't get back across 635 with all the cars to fill his gas tank up. So I exited the freeway and drove back around to pick him up to take him to his car to fill up. I was coming home from a date one night around 2 AM and saw a pickup on the side of the road in my neighborhood. They were out of gas and I helped them out. Cost me $10 but sometimes being a good samaritan is its own reward.

Another time, a car was stopped in the left turn lane going towards my house. Flashers on. I pulled up and asked the driver if he needed help. Turns out, he owned a pizza chain and needed a jump. (it was a delivery car). I had cables, gave him a jump and now get a free pizza whenever I want. He was very thankful so being a good samaritan got me a great reward. if only I ate more pizza

True story. Once I was going into a popular store for something. I walk out, and this older man approaches me as I am in my car. He asked me if I had two dollars to spare so he could get his medication refilled. I asked him what insurance he had because how did it only cost two dollars? I told him I would go into the store with him and pay to refill his medication for him. He declined and then said he needed to go get his Medicaid card. I said I would wait, he said "you don't trust me do you?" I answered back, "do I have a reason not to trust you?" He just walked off. I figure he wanted a few bucks for cigs.

Second thing. I was in Tennessee on my way to North Carolina. I stop at a gas station to fill up. While I am at a gas pump and there is another car at the pump next to mine the pump is separating us. I see this younger looking guy kind of peer around and I think he was looking at my plates. (I had out of town plates) then he said, "man this pump is pumping slow, is yours slow too?" I was polite and said no, it's working fine. Now at this time, there was only him, me and another car parked at the far end with a couple of seedy acting people and there was one car that was driving in that gas station parking lot, to across the street to another gas station. No girls that I noticed. So I go into pay for gas and step into the bathroom.

I walk out and then all of a sudden there is this girl that walks right up to me and asks me to give her a ride to the next stop light. I was like "huh?" now she had on sandals and this was in cold weather months. she made it a point to tell me that she was in sandals, her teeth looked as if she had a bit of a habit. She went on to tell me that she was fighting with her boyfriend and, blah blah blah I said to her,

" you can use my phone to call a taxi to give you a ride, Im on my way out of town and not going in that direction." she continued that it would only take 10-20 minutes and that she didn't have any money to pay for the taxi. I told her that I would pay for it and sit and wait until it got there and I would pay the driver to take her to whatever stop light she wanted to go to. she said that it would take too long and went into the store and was talking to the clerk and the clerk got on the phone, they acted like they knew each other but I don't know for sure.

I can speculate all sorts of things, maybe she was a street walker with a near by pimp trying to score an out of town trick, maybe I was about to get robbed, or maybe, just maybe she was telling the truth. I told a guy who goes to Tenn. more than I do and he told me that It sounded like I was about to get robbed. I guess I will never know. but If I offer to help and you come up with excuse after excuse, then I get suspicious.
