The BLM administers the federal land. But the BLM would be a party to a lawsuit, it would not be the "court". The BLM would fall under the jurisdiction of the court.

My point to Timpage was that a federal court stopping a state agency from doing something is quite common. So there is nothing sinister about the judge's actions as his posts seemed to imply.

timmytard, this lawsuit didn't originate in the DOJ so I don't think it constitutes "federal gub'mint over-reaching". It was filed by a private citizen (Eric O'Keefe, Wisconsin Club of Growth) whose civil rights were being trampled on, in this case by over-zealous hyper-partisan state prosecutors (who happen to be Democrats). Government can become tyrannical at any level - local, state or federal. It appears logical for the plaintiffs to have filed their lawsuit in federal court since it is arguably the best venue to redress the violations of First Amendment (free speech) and Fourth Amendment (protection from unreasonable search and seizure) rights under the US Constitution.
