Just back from somewhere else or I would have posted the link below earlier.
There are several convention calendars available, and although Nicki refers to one just above, I'm not sure which one. Thus, here's the one I think would be of most interest:

This is an ongoing constantly updated list of all KC area conventions that has all the big conventions and quite a few of the "who cares little ones".
Note that it lists specific "types" and estimated quantities of attendees and the expected room rental nights, along with which area in town. Thus, most KC area hotel management firms use this list for preliminary estimates for staff scheduling (maids) and to also determine if they will black-out discount days or not accept short term couple day reservations.
As examples, and before it ages off this list, note that during the 1st two weeks in June we have the Educational Testing Service with 19 thousand room rental nights estimated. Also not listed this weekend and last weekend is the Jehovah's Witness conventions. So yes the last two weeks were fun for folks looking for hotels and as Mocha alludes to in another thread on same topic, folks that do not stay up late.
As BC mentions previously, the Skills USA thing last week of June may be a week to avoid as it shows over 30K room nights of students and parents. Again folks that do not stay up late.
That said, on my arrival back, basic BP bingo showed a few traveling friends staying on the outer edges of town. And, for the folks north of the river, the annual gun and knife show is at the KCI expo this weekend. These folks do stay up late, but they do have to lock up their toys first they go out.
For some closing comments on some of the usefulness of this list:
Sorry SM, but most of us simply exclude Overland Park from our thoughts. And 10K of room nights for school debate folks, is not 20K or 30K of room nights.
The IC the last week of August will apparently be full of public safety folks (fire badges, but badges just the same).
And with humor: Maybe some of the guys would be interested in what's going on downtown the first few days of July when there's 10K of room nights estimated for middle age bible thumping gals. I know I've always wondered what those gals do when they get away from their hometowns.
Just some thoughts as I recover from a road trip.
