Self Defense

It was just a thought, peeps. No interest = the world keeps on spinning.

Any time one must use a firearm or defend against one ... there is no "victory"!

Someone is going home. Someone isn't. That is the conclusion. Originally Posted by LexusLover

Most ladies have weapons stashed around their incalls. Bug zappers, knives, bats, brass knuckles, etc. Just enough pop to allow them to escape.

Nothing promotes "False sense of security" like taking a self defense class and then not following up with continued training.

It's like getting a yellow belt in Tae Kwon Do

I prefer women go this route:

Agree with avoidance is the best defense in any situation.

Disagree with not being able to defend against a gun.

There are situations involving firearms where not having one is a no-win, but just because someone brings a gun to a fight does not guarantee victory. Originally Posted by Iron_Man

If you choose to pack a firearm, get qualified training and practice. The learning curve is much shorter than martial arts training. You may want to take some self defense training but you must train to be confidant.

Get some good Mace or pepper spray. Buy a few. One for target practice. Hide the others in easy to access places. Spray and run. Remember, some drugs will negate the effect of pepper spray so screen, screen, screen.

Considering the nature of the hobby and need and desire to be careful (in more ways than one). I was wondering if there would be any desire from the ladies here to take a basic self defense course?

I am currently a 1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and am working on getting my instructor certification in Krav Maga. If there's a desire, I'd be more than happy to offer lessons and, uh, "creative financing"

If not, I'd be more than happy to direct anyone to reputable establishments that could offer the same service with less creative financing. Originally Posted by Iron_Man

It's essentially a boys locker room. The women here come and go like the wind. The ones who stay, might be able to kick your ass. Don't be fooled - you're in a world of smut. Shouldn't one's skills in the martial arts be like a concealed gun?

QUOTE=pyramider;1055685213]Shouldn't one's skills in the martial arts be like a concealed gun?[/QUOTE]

I started training with my when I was twelve. I was a brown belt when I was16. My school, at that time, wouldn't allow you to test for black until you were 18. The reason was because although children could attain the necessary skill, the lacked power. My Master said he didn't want his black belts getting their asses kicked by 22 year old blue belts that would just over power the young guys.

Now, apply that logic to a spinner with a black belt against a large male. Martial arts can make you a better fighter, but size and strength have their advantages. Now, you see why rudementary training in martial arts will more likely result in your ass kicking than you kicking ass.
