On a serious note.. I had my first Ebola scare the other day.. Dude told me. " Have you heard about Ebola" " Do you mind doing CBJ" No kissing, Just doing the Doggie!

For those that know me, I suck like a high power vacuum.. I thought I was going to choke on the plastic! Ebola sure does scare the crap out of me.

No GFE/ No IOP... What is this world coming too!!!!!!

Anyone who thinks that ebola is somehow more dangerous to the hobby community than to the community at large is ill-informed. Intimate contact of a type necessary to transmission for an infected person occurs far more in the general population (by numerical count) than it does in the small fraction of that population that engages in the hobby.

Of course this assumes that someone in an infected population is somehow in contact with the world at large, which is the focus of not just local, but national resources at the moment. The idea that ebola is creeping around your back porch is so patently ignorant that my first choice was sarcasm. Perhaps it shouldn’t be. Clearly that level is above many members.

So the conversation on ebola and the hobby is a tenuous link at best, and is more typical of the mass hysteria and fear mongering led by advertising-selling media outlets and whore-board experts that love to see “debate” here on ECCIE.

Oh, and THN: as for attempt to bring other items to this thread because of your dislike of me is a classic example of red herrings and ad hominem fallacies. You don’t like me because I’m not one of your sycophantic toadies, so you try to sound “smart” here. I don’t need to defend the previous issues, because they have already been dealt with, nor do I feel any need to drag the 3 metric tons of hobby garbage that you bring everywhere you go into this, either.

The flu season is coming up and being more diligent about not sessioning with the sniffles is worth a good discussion especially with the new strains of cold and flu this year. The OP did mention other illness in post #1, not just Ebola. I think maybe you are missing the overall concern of others who have families to go home to.

My point in linking those two threads was that you have chastised members in the past for believing something that turned out to be true. And the other thread I linked was to show that you are willing to advocate for one group's freedom of discussion but not another's. Its not because I dislike you, its because I am arguing the merit of this discussion and trying to stop your continual bashing of it.

Yes, you have every right to your opinion and to make fun of others who's opinion differs. A simple, "I don't think this will end up being anything but a lot of hooplah" would do, but you made it into an agenda and a personal attack on a person that YOU don't like - and for what reason, I have no clue. Seemed the evening you spent at my home, with our acquaintances, drinking and chatting the night away went quite well. I have no idea where the animosity came from after that but it did start shortly after that. Maybe you are upset that you weren't offered one of your mod perks, idk. But it seemed the time we did meet went well and I have nothing against you personally. Sorry you don't feel the same way.

There are numerous other threads on this topic. People are discussing it, especially here in Dallas. There is nothing wrong with having a responsible hobby-related discussion.

Should hobbiests stop...not necessarily. However, this is a great time to stick with your ATFs and be very careful. One of my favorite clients and I were talking about this old commercial that use to say...and they told two friends and they told two friends and so on and so on. 2×2 to the 30th power is...take a deep breath..2,147,483,648. So imagine that in hobby terms...you see two providers, she saw two clients and each of them saw two providers and so on and so on. So know where your providers have been and stick with providers you know and trust I think. Play safe and live to hobby another day:-)

Your vitriol was astounding to me, clearly as much as my "personal" reaction to your attacks here. You simply don't like it when you don't get YOUR way, and you demonstrate a complete separation from logic. You have the same reaction as hundreds of providers I've moderated here: if you get your way, all is well, but anyone who oppose your opinion has "an agenda."

My agenda on this issue is simple. The hobby/ebola scare is foolish, and not based on good medicine or fact. I stated it pretty clearly before you attempted to "show that I'm capable of error." I also never said "this shouldn't be discussed." I merely made fun of the obvious fear mongering that the news is feeding the masses, and the reactions to it here.
