Two weeks later (Feb 1-4, 2007), they were at 32%. The reason I used those specific dates would be because they fell at an equivalent period as it relates to SOTU vs. Obama's current ratings.
The last time GW was at Obama's current 50% level was May 2-5, 2005. For the most part, it was a downhill slide, from early 2005 and beyond.
On the flip side, GW's disapprovals were consistently high. Even jumping up into the 70's for a while.
