Actually OS X is a Unix/Linux variant which makes it by default superior to Windoze. Linux comes in over 100 flavors, most free and others non free like OS X. Years ago when thinking about going to Mac a buddy at work said, before you get a Mac give free Linux a spin. Then if you don't like it go buy a Mac. That was the best advice I ever got. Tried out Linux and haven't gone back to either MS or Apple!.....

Zorin is great for people who can't let go of XP.
However all MS OSs are security sieves, under constant ever increasing attack. This is the main reason for moving to Linux which has bulletproof security, even better than a Mac..... Originally Posted by Celso

I still us XP Pro and Win 7. Win 8 is junk.

And the bad news - you cannot do an in place upgrade from 7 64 bit to 8.1 without wiping your pc. It will only keep your personal files. I just lost my Win 7 install and found out the hard way (this was a parallels install btw). I think the 10 technical preview will work as an upgrade and is capable of keeping everything though.
Shit happens!

This is why I always backup whatever personal files are worth saving on a flash or external drive....ijs
In this case the only thing I had was my programs - gone!
Yeah saving programs are always a PIA. Remember the W98 days when 98 programs wouldn't run on XP, then XP apps wouldn't run on Vista, etc! Always forcing you to reinstall or buy the 'new' updated app version. Just another way to pick your pockets every couple years.....
I hear that. I did find 2 third party programs tha supposedly would have worked for me after the fact!
Sorry Trish....not much help here as I am a Mac guy. Haven't used a windows system since 2011 Originally Posted by Highwayman64
