Well, except for Alaska, the inner cities, and Appalachia...especially Appalachia.

Until then you have the right to be a racist. It is disappointing but predictable this comes up so much. Much like other rights we hold so dear the mere existence of them seems to mortally offend others(see abortion and gay marriage). The right to choose will always trump the privilege of being chosen. Whether it is fair or not, or impacts someone in a negative manner is not the issue. For those that feel otherwise would you be comfortable letting others dictate your choice of who to be intimate with or conduct business with?

As to whether shaming a provider or hobbyist with an NBA policy is productive and drives meaningful social and economic change is yet to be determined.

Some good answers. I can see some education is in order and so, fortunately, I'm here to help.

There is a difference between discrimination based on taste and personal prejudice (RAYCESS!). For example, if I prefer Taco Bell to McDonald's, that is personal preference. I'm not comparing providers to fast food, they cost much more, but the principle is the same.

Now, if Taco Bell has a policy of not serving blacks, that's not personal preference it's discrimination. It's sort of the definition. I am NOT suggesting providers have any obligation to service people they don't want to see. And, yes, people have a right to be racist. Most are.

But don't conflate the personal preference of the buyer with a policy of blanket discrimination. And not one of these rationales for the NBA policy holds water. It's basically saying even if you're on P411 with seven okays, or have great references you can't be seen. Whether you agree with the policy or not, call it what it is. RAYCESS
Racism is just ignorant.
Your Raycess bullshit takes ignorance to an all time high level, deep into stupid territory.
Go cry somewhere else!

Whenever I see that policy, I think Girl, You Raycess. Then I scratch her off my list. Originally Posted by FloridaShark

Racism these days is no different from any other izm. Racism now is only a "problem" b/c people make a big stink about it. Like any other pre judgement, we know it's there. I try not to live my life in generalizations. After all I am an individual who conducts myself in a respectful way towards others and that grants me the same in return. If someone is nasty towards me personally, I assume THEY are the one with the problem. If I'm not feeding off the funk its not my problem.

I'm sure civil rights activists and the like are rolling in their graves lauging at us 21st century people, talking about what's racist.
