Perhaps they are too lazy to be in business. Could that sometimes show up in service?
The opportunity is there, if they will use it.
The current situation is not my favorite either. For me the question is: Do I want to try to change the world to fit my mold, or be flexible and happy?

Although, as said before, there should be no obvious US based ownership or hosting. That is just common sense.
