Electric motors make massive torque. Just about every engine worth a shit is a "Hemi" now, with the exception of Chevy V8's, that rely on 1930's technology superchargers to make horsepower. Can you say Cord or Duesenberg? Big noisy V8's and Pick Me Up trucks are for dickless losers.

What makes horsepower is a 628 CI BB Chevy with twin 80 MM turbos and a 300 shot of NOS... how about 2000 HP + and streetable. Not really too many true Hemi's out there. The term Hemi designates a Hemispherical combustion chamber. The 30's technology you speak of is still the standard for most all V-8's today irregardless of make.

The 2016 Tesla comes with a battery getting ~280 miles to a charge.

In 2017 GM plans to sell the Bolt, that uses the Tesla battery.

Germany is coming out with an Electric vehicle to compete with Tesla in a year. Germans claim their battery gets over 300 miles to a charge.

And as mass production kicks in prices will plummet!
Just look at how prices have dropped on Computers, Big Screen HDTVs, etc., the same will happen with electric vehicles!.....
