Pot calling the kettle black

Thank you, Lilianna. That goes directly to my point. Most threads turn into flirting sessions. Which, if you think about it, is the whole point of this website. Connecting hobbyists and providers. A little harmless flirtation is not cause to shut down a thread no matter who is participating in it. All I'm asking for is that the mods apply some consistency so we can all know what to expect. Where is the line? Some go WAY beyond the ones that were shut down. So that makes me wonder if some posters get more leeway than others. Originally Posted by DickPeters

It looks like I need to address a few things......

Apparently I should have been a bit more "verbose" with my explanation as to why I closed the thread. Let me try to shed some light on the situation.

I am aware that DB was trying to tell guys that if they don't start seeing the ladies that travel to Wichita they will quit coming. His intentions were pure...well so to speak....LOL!!!! The problem is the post was about one particular lady. Unfortunately in the eyes of many, that makes the post an ad of sorts. So even though the intent of the thread was “innocent” in my opinion it could be used by some as an excuse to promote other ladies. Before you say….naaah….no one would do that….let me tell ya….I have seen it happen before. It is my opinion that had I allowed that thread to continue there is a very real possibility that we would start seeing a bunch of very similar threads that weren’t quite so “innocent.”

I realize that even with this explanation not everyone will agree with me. That’s ok. Different opinions are what makes the world go around. I have to make decisions that based on my knowledge and experience, are in my opinion best for the board, not necessarily the individual.

DickPeters…..As my explanation above should show you, the thread was not closed because of flirting or the talk of doubles, etc. A fact I am sure you are not aware of is that it was a “Report to Moderator” submitted by a MALE that brought this thread to my attention in the first place. Another couple of points that seems lost on you are this….the thread you posted the link to isn’t anything like the thread I closed and it is in a completely different city moderated by a different staff. While we try to be fairly consistent from city to city there will always be some differences. With that said, I saw nothing wrong the thread you referenced. I have seen, and allowed similar threads in KC.

Now then, as for your comment “It seems that the mods pick and choose what gets to stay and what gets shot down not based upon the content of the discussion but by who is doing the discussing.” That is a very interesting statement. You started this thread saying you didn’t want to fight with Elena. I don’t know that I believe that, but……..your statement I quoted above sure sounds like you are looking for a fight with the staff! Sorry, that isn’t going to happen. This, along with your issue with Elena probably should have been discussed in private first but….since you chose to make it public I will respond accordingly.

I am very sorry to hear you believe we moderate based on who, not what. We try very hard to be as consistent as humanly possible. We try very hard to treat everyone the same. Does it always happen that way…..I don’t know, maybe, maybe not, but if not it isn’t from lack of trying. We are human and as such aren’t perfect. Simply put, we do our dead level best to be helpful, consistent, fair and unbiased.

Something many people don’t realize is that on many occasions we have information members aren’t privy to that influences a decision. What you see on this board is a fraction of what we see/hear behind the scenes so it is not uncommon for there be more to the story then what you see. Ask anyone that has ever moderated a board the size of ASPD or ECCIE how their perspective on things changed as soon as they saw what goes on in the background. At times moderating kind of reminds me of the movie “Men in Black.” LOL!!

Some of the problem is the question, what constitutes an ad? If you get right down to it, every post made by a lady with a signature line that contains contact information could be called an ad.
Heck, you could make the case that every time a lady posts, it’s an ad. If we followed those trains of thought the only place ladies would be posting is in the ads section. I don’t know what the rest of you think but I think that would SUCK!!! LOL!!! My point is that it is difficult to define what constitutes an ad. The best answer I can give is that we look at posts/threads on a case by case basis and then based what we have done in the past, try to make a fair and consistent decision. This might be an interesting topic for another thread……???

DickPeters…Should you care to continue the discussion about your concerns with the staff, please present something concrete we can talk about. Idle accusations are difficult to debate. If we screwed up on something, so be it. We will admit it, learn from it and move on. Hopefully you will approach this in the same manner.

To all.....If you don't agree with something we have done, send us a pm and talk about it. As long as you disagree in a respectful manner we will do our best to listen to what you have to say and try help you understand the reasoning behind our decision. Who knows, you may change our mind. Over the years I have had several people present very sound thoughts/arguements contrary to a decision I made. After careful consideration, I reversed my decision. With that said, there are times when we may have to agree to disagree and move on. None of us claim to be perfect but we can't fix it if we don't know it's broke.

Ok….it’s past my feeding time and my butt is getting sore from sitting in this chair to long. Time for me to say Adios for now!
Actually the original thread that was closed was about 2 providers. The second one was about Luxurie that had the same problem with cancellations. I think the original thread was more about the trend of providers having problems with cancellations in Wichita. This could affect the number of providers willing to take the risk of travelling there.
