Korruption, 1717 W. 9th St. (Google for directions). It's a dive bar with live bands, burlesque shows, and plenty of trashy women OUTSIDE. 9th & State Line is a notorious area for low end hookers.

There is no such thing as 9th and State Line. Do you mean State Ave?
It's the west bottoms, Kansas side. Calling the women hanging outside trashy is being way to polite, to each their own.

I remember working down in that area for awhile and on 9th street, a toothless street walker would be out everyday waving at cars and yelling "wanna-date?" as they drove by.

We used to call it the East Bottoms, but whatever. Just off of James Street. Korruption is not for the faint of heart. I spent quite an evening down there one night with a SW named Karen. Ahh...stories you really really want to tell...but know better than to.

I had a warehouse in the 1400 block of St Louis ave for several years back in the late 80's & early 90's. We had to chase the street girls away from the docks and warehouse help daily. Every Friday for almost a year one of the warehouse guys got his weekly BJ for $5 during lunch right in the alley. Fridays at 5 o'clock the streets on 9th would be littered with hookers, especially around the liquor store at 9th and state. These ladies weren't shy at all. They would knock on your windows, flash their tits and yell at you when you wouldn't partake. The cops would come around and the ladies would walk from one side of state line to the other depending on whether the patrol was from Ks. or Mo.

My apologies for getting off topic.

Went to Korruption over the weekend. (West Bottoms: 1717 W. 9th St, KCMO 64101)

Talked to one of the gals that lives there and bar tends there for about an hour. Place was dead due to no burlesque show or live band. Got the history of the building which made the hour spent there well worth my time! She said it is one of those bars you have to work to find, but that she really appreciates those who are willing to do so. She is correct lol!

Burlesque Show Info:
There is a show this Saturday Night Feb 19th. Doors open at 8pm...show at 10pm. She said to get there early as well as buy your tickets on line at www.kcsob.com ($8 Online OR $10 At the Door) due to the fact they usually sell out and it's standing room only. Not sure I will make plans to go there this Saturday as my weekends are based more on spur of the moment activities than planned out ones. But I will, at some point, definitely make it back out there to at least see a show or a band as the bar had a great vibe!

Oh...I did not see any street walkers out lol. In fact I didn't even see one car on the streets going there or leaving there.

Coolest Thing About Korruption:
This place is the original Pabst Beer Bar (pre Blue Ribbon). Due to the fact they couldn't sell beer where they manufactured it they created the Pabst Bar in order to introduce the new beer to the public. When you are entering the bar look down at the outside tile that reads "Pabst". The tile inside the bar was laid piece by piece all by hand (these are tiny little circle tiles...just amazing),awesome tin ceilings, believe she said original bar, etc. Turned into a speakeasy in prohibition times with a secret poker/gambling room upstairs complete with hat boxes and a secret entrance door with a peep window.

This place has a lot of history!! Super cool in my opinion, but I am one of those nerds that Enjoys hearing about and exploring historic buildings such as this...

Where is sullivans?
The Peanut...original one at 50 & Main... a hole in the wall dive bar that used to be always hopping on the weekends and some week nights. Not a pick up joint...but a place where there always seems to be a few strays.

Everyone there is usually just having fun and enjoying the weekend night life. Geez...Strays...WOW. Thanks, lol, I'll be adding that one to my "List".

Gilhouly's on 39th street, brick walls, stiff drinks, good loud music, & nice ink. Oh The Peanut lol, I had almost forgot about that place. The mother of my childern and I spend a shot fueled evening there once...not one of the better days in our 10 year 7 state love affair lol.......blk07lac, I'm not sure but I believe "Sullivans" is on 119th street just east of Roe. And for those interested the link ( http://www.kcsob.com ) to the group from last Saturday's burlesque show at the Korruption.
