tracibrooks,

Don't worry about how this looks to others. It sounds to me like your heart is in the right place, and likely larger than most! I believe people will see it in the way you intend... That you are trying to help some of those less fortunate.

I applaud you!

Wow Traci,
Great idea and good tips from everyone here too! I have no idea how, but if there were a way to for you to receive some kind of notice or e-mail that we gave on your behalf with or with out the amount. Then the next time we saw you let us know in some small way that you know we gave in your name, perhaps some extra time or just a nice warm hug and kiss even on the cheek. IF the gift is given for the right reason a simple thanks is all that is needed, if not well just keep a positive outlook and look for the good in people and you are more likely to find it, kwim?

I'm willing to give you a freebie for your birthday.

Great ideal Traci, you go girl, you can put me down for a donation.

But my birthday is on March as well, but Im afraid Im heading south to Grand Cayman Island with Alyssa for a well deserved BirthDay present and much needed R&R. Well maybe not so much R&R with her.
Awesome!!! I really appreciate all the input and support. The donation links should be going up soon, within the next few days.

Some charities that are hip with the online thing have what are called "personal giving pages" where you run your own little campaign to raise money, and get your friends to give, and everyone gets to see the thermometer go up. So your donors can check out the sum total for the month there from the tips. =)

I checked, and Doctors without Borders has a personal giving page program running too.

then click through where it says:
Create your own fundraising web page to:

Very cool, Black Sedan, thank you! I'll see if I can figure that thing out, but I'm not sure I will use it. A few gents have expressed that they would not want to know a total, or see a counter or anything. I understand their reasons. I'll check this personal giving thing out though and see what's what. I really appreciate the info!

Hey chica!

I have a donation jar for my charity in the living room and accept cash. I make the cash donations monthly. I will say it is harder to get people to donate bc how do they know I actually make the donation? But the other way is complicated bc you don't want them to have your real name and vice versa. That is the drawback to making donations on the actual page.

I would try and offer both. A link on your page and maybe they can print out that they gave a donation when they see you. Also, accept cash.

I think it is awesome of you to want to give back! Mad props to you!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
