Missing the point of the thread? Maybe. I guess I was distracted by the disparaging comments regarding Native Americans. I take it that the real point of the thread is that protests and other forms of civil disobedience should not be allowed to derail a project like this pipeline if all the legal prerequisites to approval of the project were properly completed. That could be a valid argument, but it would raise in my mind a question regarding the fairness of those prerequisites and the entire approval process. It seems an odd coincidence that unsightly, undesireable, and potentially hazardous projects seem to invariably be located in or near places inhabited by poor folks. There are probably multiple factors that come to bear on that fact, but one of them is most certainly the comparative wealth of the competing interested parties. I doubt the folks opposing this pipeline had the wherewithal to lawyer-up to the same extent of those seeking to build the pipeline. Just look at all the shit that gets dumped in poor neighborhoods around here. Compare that to the Ashby Highrise saga (while although it's still being built, it's on a greatly reduced scale). Face it, if you're poor, you have a diminished ability to exercise your rights. Recognizing that doesn't doesn't make me a SJW, it just demonstrates that I'm not blind. However, if believing in the proposition that wealth should not be the SOLE factor in establishing one's access to a decent minimal standard of living (reasonable shelter in a reasonably safe neighborhood, proper nutrition, adequate health care, decent education, employment at a fair wage, etc.) makes me a SJW, then let's get it on.

That makes no sense. I don't live in a "slum", and there are no pipelines running near me. You can check that on the Texas RRC website. There are, however, pipelines running through the less affluent areas around here. Shit gets dumped in areas where the inhabitants lack the resources to fight it. The pipelines run from and to where they are needed. If affluent or impoverished areas are populated AFTER they are put through, that's a developer issue. If I am not mistaken Deer Park ISD has more money than any other ISD because of property taxes paid by "evil" industry. Dew ISD has a shit pile too and doesn't even have a high school thanks to tight shale natural gas development. I didn't use the term frack because that is 65+ year old technology. That area would not be producing if it were not for geosteerable drilling and its accuracy.
