Thanks everyone for the advise. Im going shooting again tomorrow and gonna take some of yalls advise of shooting with a different gun.

I suggest Smith and Wesson, something like a model 642, stainless steel. If you ever point the gun at anyone you intend to shoot, it will likely be very close range. It is the decision and mental preparation that you need training in, not just aiming. Anyone should be able to shoot a bad guy at 5 yards if they train a little, are mentally prepared, and have a decent weapon.
You should go to the range every three months or so, and pretend you are shooting at the Tara haters.....right in the pelvic area, that should stop them. All Tara haters take note!!!
