Pulled over by LE

Where you were is a hot spot for the obvious. When you're driving around that time, you HAVE to drive like a saint. Perfect stops...use turn signals...no aggressive acceleration...perfect driving.

You got pulled over though...that means something wasn't right. You cooperated and that's great. The reason why they were over-extending their pleasantries with you is because they wanted you to admit why you where there. They're trained to try and "force" you to fess up. They were throwing out more serious charges just so you can admit that you were trolling for some hoochies. It's a bit like how they ask how fast you're going...whatever number you toss out, they add three and give you the ticket. In that case, they'll tell you EVERYTHING that could go wrong if you were ever caught with an SW and warn you to never do it again.

Complaining won't help you though...it'll just put you on an unofficial BOLO and you could get harassed every single time you're out. Believe it or not, it happens more than you think (why do you think they never let COPS film here in SA?). Consider it a learning experience and take it as you will. Be cautious and keep an eye out.

I've had the exact same thing happen in broad daylight going down Military Drive years ago. And just earlier this year, I got stopped with my kid in the back seat just because the officer "couldn't quite read my license plate because it was dirty." WTF? Mind you, I'm driving a late-model, luxury sedan in a good area of town.

Bottom line: The pigs can pull you over for any reason at all, anywhere, anytime. Driving on public roads is a privilege; not a right. Fighting those sorts of things does not occur at the time of the incident, but later in court where fault & rights can be debated. By that time, the damage is either done or the parties involved don't want to take the time and money to fight about it.

That's why this whole debate about that law in Arizona was so stupid. If they want to pull you over, they have plenty of reasons er... excuses, already.
