close encounters of the public kind

I've only had it happen once...at the gym, my name was called out from quite a distance away, I looked around and saw him smiling at me, I did a quick wave and kept on treadmilling No makeup, hair in a pony tail..didnt think anyone would ever recognize me there. lol
I would never acknowedge someone in public if they had someone with them. Not cool

Naomi, you know it would depend on the situation. Remember I already have a cover story.

A provider I had met once before walked into my workplace one time. We hadn't seen each other in months. I recognized her, and she recognized me. We exchanged a smile and that was it. She came in a few more times, and it developed into a hello, but nothing more than that. Unless you definitely know it's okay, the best thing to do is don't acknowledge each other at all because you never know, they could be with SO, family, etc. Makes me thankful I'm single, just in case a girl does overstep the boundaries when seeing me in public.

I've never had anyone walk up to me in public, but I have recognized two providers I have met in sessions before-

1. I walked into a session a few months back with a lady who doesn't show her face on the internet. As quick as I walked in the room, the lady and I looked at each other and we knew we had seen each other before. She works at Wal-Mart as her day job, so she thought we must have seen each other there. LOL, That wasn't it. She has family who goes to my church and visits there a few times a year. I knew it, but not sure she did. I haven't done another session with her since though.

2. I had another lady who didn't recognize me, but she has a son the same age as mine and our teams played each other in baseball last year. I remember staring over at her while I was the 3rd base coach in one game because i like to check out the hot moms. I wonder if she will recognize me when our teams play in a few weeks, LOL.

Most of my hobbying has been out of town because I travel a lot, so maybe I won't run into anyone else I know.

I have come across two clients in public. The first time was at the grocery store, I was alone and he was with his wife. The second was at a sushi restaurant, I was with friends and he was with his wife and kids. On both occassions I ignored them and vice versa. I will NEVER go up to a client in public, even if they are alone. My clients also know NEVER to go up to me in public, even if I am alone...you never know who is watching.

I almost posted the first comment on this thread, but then I decided to view other people's opinions before expressing mine. I am glad that I am not the only one who would not be overjoyed to have a client approach me when I am in a public place. I cannot imagine too many scenarios in which an approach would not result in his immediate removal from my little black book.

Luckily for me, I have not yet run into a client in public. It is something that I fear greatly, because I know that some of my clients might be so happy to see me that the rules of discretion could be forgotten.

I've not ran into anyone yet! When I danced I saw people all the time.

I get recognized more often than I'd like to, (esp here as of late!)...but it doesn't really bother me anymore. The only time I didn't like it was when I was getting my car from a valet guy whom I'd never met, but he sure as shit knew me....He carried on yelling my name to his buddies as I drove off....that was a bit odd...
