The kanuter valve could be bad as well.
You should only use chrome muffler bearings.
W D 40 will help.

Did ya'll know that WD-40 is very close chemically to Mineral Spirits? It stands for Water Displacer #40. I love mineral spirits as an uber-cleaner right before applying a wood stain.
