Excellent explanation of “Net Neutrality”
tweet:
Saul Montes-Bradley
@Debradelai
(1) It is not a technology thing at all, and no different than bank, or auto or insurance agencies regulation.
Likewise, the name itself "net neutrality" is a good example of doublespeak, not unlike "affordable care act." https://twitter.com/hardlove104/stat...91949380710400 …

------------------------------
(2) I hope you understand that “affordable care” has nothing to do with either health care or affordability, but is is a way to destroy competition and concentrate business into the hands of a few select monopolies.
(3) Likewise, “net neutrality” has nothing to do with neutrality at all.
The base of the canard is the notion that somehow free marlests produce imbalances that favor the few. And as some companies grow, the may “exclude” someone, for whatever reason, from full participation.
(4) Of course, we know that to be a canard, especially in a rapidly evolving environment in which the behemoths of yesterday (Mosaic, Netscape, Yahoo) are the losers of today, and where open competition makes it possible for a couple of nerds to create tomorrows behemoth.
(5) In fact, it is precisely that dinamic of new entries innovation and obsolecence that is at the root of the vitality of our system and in this case, what has transformed our lives through investment in areas of unlimited potential.
(6) So much so, that if, say, a bunch of cocmpanies tried to have an agreement to, say, limit hiring bonuses or cap salaries to increase their benefits, they’d be breaking the law. Cartels are no legal.
That fuels competition at all levels.
(7) Whoever offers the best toy or services gets the most customers, and whoever pays better gets the best workers who, in turn, also have the incentive to strike on their own with a better widget.
Trillions & trillions have been created in the net business since the late 80s.
(8) As a customer I have benefited enormously as well.
I used to pay 2,700 a month for phone services that now cost me less than 200 a year and I can see your face, to boot. I have access to mountains of information and you and I can be having this conversation.
(9) If a company gets too greedy, lazy or partisan, we switch with ease, and the barrier to entry is ridiculously low.
Ironically, Bill Gates of all people articulated this wonderfully in the 90s. And he was right then.
Enters Mussolini.
(10) The stated aim of the Fascist state is to achieve social justice through social peace through a stricg reglamentation of the means of production that reduces social tension and does away with conflict, that increasing productivity.
This is done throgh “Corporations”
(11) Hence, we refer to fascism as a “Corporativist state.”
Alas, there is a little semantics problem well exploited by Fascists to confuse you.
In the US, a “Corporation” is any enterprise that has been incorporated as a legal entity.
(12) A mom and pop import-export business in Queens and Exxon Mobil. They are all Corporations.
So, intellectually dishonest people refer to Capitalism as a Corporate state,” or a state that favors corporations.
(13) Alas, Corporations in the Fascist sense are not commercial enterprises at all, but Cartels. Unions be it of workers or industries; colleges and trade associations.
In the Fascist model, we all must belong to one such Corporation.
(14) The Car Manufacturers Association, the Auto Worker’s Union, the Bar Association, the College of Physicians, FINRA, etc. And the working conditons, salaries, prices of goods sold, etc., are set in Collective Bargain Agreements under the arbitration of a Natinonal Labor Board,
(15) or some self-regulatory agency that lives by its own rules besides and above the court system.
This allows certain large enterprises to control the process, and set salaries ad prices for the universe of their trade that limit competition, raise entry barriers and,
(16) as added benefit, destroys smaller companies that cannot affordd the regulatory burden.
Thus, three guys and a government representative in their payroll (now or in the near future) essencially form the very cartel our laws forbid.
(17) Without the burden of competition, they are free to present us with a product in terms of “take it or leave it” and our quality of life suffers, incentives for creativity dissappear and potential for growth among employees dissappears.
(18) This is what Dodd-Frank did to the banking industry. Tens of thousands of regulations created in a year that placed everyone in limbo. Is this legal? Can I do that.
Big banks, set aside billions of government money (another story, but not what you think), and
(19) created compliance divisions with hundreds of shysters to help their employees navigate around the maze of regulatry crap.
Smaller banks could not afford that, so they either closed or were bough for peanuts by the big ones, creating
(20) the largest concentration of capital ever in this country.
A handful of banks now control 90% of deposits, charge you for breathing and you have no choice but to bend over.
This is what “net neutrality” does.
(21) Unable to get this crap through Congress, obama, as usual, skirted the law and used an entity created to regulate a monopoly that no longer exists (Ma Bell) to regulate an industry where monopolies do not exist.
The regulatory cost is already noticeable.
(22) Broadband capacity has decreased for the first time ouside of a recession. Growth stalled. Service providers have priceing power and it’s going up.
Big companies have no problems but startups are feeling the pinch.
(23) In a classic case of Orwellian doublespeak, rather than promote diversity in a neutral environment (that would be the de-regulated environment existing a priori), net neutrality promots concentration of resources into a handful reducing diversity in a now slanted environment
(24) Fortunately, and thanks to that Republican Congress everybody loves to denigrate, Obama never got this into Law, so a meeting of the FCC board, now with different characters, can undo it in December and return to sanity.
However!
(25) The FCC, like the rest of the alphabte soup of endless agencies, is the type of Fascist self-regulatory agency that, as you can see, can operate and make law independent of Congress. And whatever it does in December can be undone down the road, just like the Obamination did.
(26) We should not be happy until self-regulatory agencies are either dissolved or have their wings trimmed to prevent them from creating, enforcing and administering law besides and above the Courts and Congress.
Otherwise we are screwed.
FINIS
I saw the head of the FCC on Fox this morning and he says that they are getting rid of an obama regulation that was put in place in 2015. If this is true why would it make much of a difference? Eccie was working just fine before this was put in place. This sounds like more of the same bullshit that anything the Trump administration does must be bad and therefore resisted. IMO that is the ONLY reason we are seeing so much hate for this.. Cause trump wants to do it, it must be bad.. Eccie was working fine before because they had net neutrality. They were trying to do away with it but did not.... so Eccie still worked fine.
They tried to put this in place in 2015. There was a huge uproar from the public and they did not do it. Originally Posted by WTF

Is someone or more sort of missing "the point" ...You can “believe”anything you like, LLiarMan, but unless you provide adequate backup for your conspiracy theory, your talking out your ass again.
... the "real censorship" is conducted through the primary search engines that redirect your inquiries to a pre-selected result while at the same time "mining" the inquiries you make and associating them with your IP address or phone number assigned to the "phone" you use to search.
The Government doesn't have to do shit, although it does the same thing when you enter one the Government sites.
Look at "who" controls the search engines and then ....
.... evaluate their political posture or status on the "continuum." Originally Posted by LexusLover
