The Senate tax bill eliminates the ACA individual mandate.

So tell me Bambino why would you be happy that the mandate might go away? I assume it’s not because it’s going to cause your health insurance cost to increase, could it just be because it’s called Obama Care and he isn’t white? Originally Posted by StandinStraight

The carriers are bailing out and it will collapse in short order. Short of major surgery you can survive with "shopping" doctors and they will often cut your fees when you are paying out of pocket ... and pharmacies have discount programs (drug companies also for high priced specialty drugs.)

For years I was "self-insured" and it was cheaper than paying the premiums, deductibles, and copays. But if you have kids that may not be an option, depending on their general health AND you all being proactive in maintaining healthy, safe habits.

I guess at some point you will explain how eliminating the penalty-tax will increase "insurance costs" (and I "assume" you mean premiums to the consumer) .... since premiums and copays (deductibles) have been going up WITH IT!

But if you can't, that's fine, because the people you are parroting can't either! Some of us understand that. You could always call The View Ladies!

They know everything! Like you do. Originally Posted by LexusLover

Without the mandate you end up with more sick people in the pool and higher premiums for all of us. Plus some of those that choose not to have insurance will still get sick when they go to the emergency rooms they get treatment that we will have to pay for.
The mandate was a good thing that helped to insure more people and keep costs down!
The only reason it is being taken away is to give more of a tax break to the wealthy!

The only reason Anyone would applaud its demise is ignorance, prejudice, or greed.

That's why Gruber is still laughing his ass off at you guys.

Now: Go pretend to be smart with someone else. It ain't workin'!

Just like the ACA "ain't workin'"!

I'll save you the further embarrassment of discussing the costs to the taxpayers to support those who can't pay the premiums and the health insurance carriers who cannot afford to pay the benefits required by the ACA.

Besides ... I doubt you are smart enough to get embarrased.

I am glad you lucked out self insuring yourself but if you had run up millions in health bills during that time I doubt that you would be recommending it to anyone.

The reason for insurance is that we never know when we will get sick. It’s like saying I don’t wreck much so I don’t need auto insurance, ya but what if you do? So the policy your looking for is something really cheap which means it won’t cover anything, they don’t have cheap good policies. Buy one and then get sick and see how happy you are. Insurance companies would love to take your money and give you nothing and let you assume the risk, the ACA prevents garbage policies.

The reason premiums are so high isn’t the ACA it’s the unwillingness of republicans to regulate the insurance market and premium rates and drug costs.

It's almost 10 months!

Of course if you knew English you could read up on "self-insuring" oneself and ones employees!!!! And you could also learn how to "co-op" and "pool" small businesses into a "group" for the purpose of self-insuring all the employees in the group!!! But you are too stupid so you rely on the Government to do it for you!!!!

Eliminating the individual mandate will result in two things. Some low risk people will stop buying health insurance. The risk pools will become more negative, premium costs will go up. The subsidy for a family of 2 that makes less than 50,000 will go up as well. So, instead of the government subsidy being $400 it will increase to like $550. The ACA is alive as long as there is government subsidy to help pay for premium. The senate tax bill did not change that.

Maybe you can get Lexus Lover to send you his copy of the ACA. He said he down loaded it.

If you need to know how to download a copy, just let me know. Then you can start downloading the regs .... as Pelosi implied .... "the Devil" is in the details!!!!

She passed it before she read it! Remember!!!

There is no such thing as Obamacare ... it's a fiction.

It was more like a ponzi scheme that would wreck the private insurance business and make it necessary to convert the country to a "one-payor" system, which really meant three different insurance coverage systems ... one for the poor people, one for the government people, and one for the rich people.

The other purpose was to bail out California's disaster retirement created by the Liberals who know more about pissing off money than they do making it and their enabling partners in the California legislature.

Trump came in and screwed up their bankrupting plans.

There are two different ways to perform surgery: a dull knife or a sharp one! It just depends on how much pain you like to experience.
