Oral HIV test

Hmm. What about other stuff, or is it just HIV?

What about one of the Heps (A, B, C), or gonarrea? Can't chlamydia kill you, too? Sypillis? I mean, you pass one 'test' and fail two others. What good is that? And I wouldn't want to find out I got something in front of an audience. I'm confident in my health and all, but damn. Let's play devil's advocate and say you pop positive. Now what?

I think the biggest concern would be that some clients would start pushing for bareback activities. Hence providers would be reticent for reasons other than "I don't want to know."
@Rambro - if you are hobbying you should be getting a full STD check every 6 months... doing a pre-date test you should be feeling pretty confident that you'll see a (-). The oral test is only 99% accurate... so no reason to freak right away.

Yup ..there are other STDs... most have reasonable treatments and will not ruin your sex life. HIV has (to me) an unacceptably large impact on my life and sex life ...plain and simple.

@Tex - basically same point as tntangie... maybe it only works once you and the provider have some rapport.

John, I hear ya. In theory, this is a good idea. I think there was a thread about this a few months ago. The possible problems with the test is it doesn't show what you did 2 days ago, or even 2 weeks ago, maybe. I'm not doctor or anything, so I don't know.

I don't get tested every six months perfectly on schedule, but I do get checked every so often. I think it WOULD create an avenue for more BBFS. I ask again, would you want to find out in front of someone, a person that you don't even know? I mean, worse case scenario. What happens if you got a positive? Even if it turned out to be false, you're probably going to shit bricks until you get 3 or 4 good results later on. On top of that, you've got to trust this person with your newly found status. With false results, people may get overconfident and go bb. What if it was a false false?

Yes, I worry about catching something. I think there's a certain amount of paranoia each of us SHOULD carry in this business. I know I keep it. That's why we use condoms (most of us). It's better to be a little worried compared to being too carefee. I've never had an STD, but I've heard and read stories about how painful some of them are. I don't BB. I think having that bit of paranoia helps me stay on the straight and narrow within the hobby.

There is some risk by being in this hobby. We accept whatever's comfortable for us. If it got to the point where the level of risk was no longer comfortable for me, I'd hit the ground running out of the hobby into a 'regular' life.

Sorry if I got long-winded here. Again, I hear ya. This instant test idea works great on paper, but it could create a false sense of security.
I too am a little paranoid about catching anything and hobby very little. I have used tstd.org multiple times and they use a DNA/PCR test which on their site states the following below. Although the test is quite expensive it has put my mind at ease when the little voice of paranoia has reared it's head.
PCR/DNA: Polymerase chain reaction. This test finds either the RNA of the HIV virus or the HIV DNA in white blood cells infected with the virus. This test may be done in a few days after exposure to the virus. Genetic material may be found even if other tests are negative for the virus. The PCR test is very useful to find a recent infection and to resolve cases where antibody test results were indeterminate.

I also agree, there are very real risks associated with HIV. There are so many risks associated with BBBJ also. I believe I caught hepatitis B that way once. Many people will poo poo the risks associated with HIV and BBBJ. But what about Hepatitis B? That is much more contagious than HIV. I just think we all need to protect ourselves in the hobby.
... Q: HIV is real and it's out there... cover does not offer 100% protection ...so why not be extra safe? Before the fun begins we both take a test... and if we are both (-) we STILL WEAR THE COVER but there is no stress! What do y'all think... will ladies go for this or will I get slapped and blacklisted? TIA Originally Posted by johnlaw

Lady you are a danger to this society, We need to know who the hell you are and avoid you like a plague !!!

Hepatitis B can be transmitted through contaminated blood, sweat, tears, saliva, semen, vaginal secretions, menstrual blood and breast milk.

Kissing you and DATY with you is a DANGER !!!

Hepatitis B Risk - The Hepatitis B virus can cause chronic liver disease - and has the potential to be fatal. Considered to be 100 times more infectious than HIV, Hepatitis B viral particles are in semen, vaginal secretions, stool, tears, saliva, sweat and blood (including menstrual blood). There is clear evidence that Hepatitis B can be transmitted through vaginal and anal intercourse, but it is unproven whether it can be transmitted through oral sex. Since it is so contagious, there is a theoretical risk of transmitting Hepatitis B through cunnilingus, fellatio or analingus.

I QUIT ESCORTING WHEN I FOUND OUT I HAD IT. THIS WAS 3 YEARS AGO in 2008. I just joined Eccie in March. Quit twisting what happened in MY LIFE to make yourself look right. You don't know what the hell your talking about. I don't have it anymore. Hep B is NOT the same as Hep C. How dare you come here and spew lies about my life. You don't know me and what occured in my life at that time.

I would NEVER escort if I knew I had an STD. I don't have it now. Hepatitis B GOES AWAY for most people with healthy immune systems. Your sick for a few weeks then you get over it. Even if I wanted to escort while I was sick, I would not have been able to due to severe weakness. I never worked while I was sick, and I actually quit the escorting biz after recovering because I was so scared. It was a reality check. I might be bitchy, but I am not a sadist out to hurt anyone. I don't have Hepatitis B now, it's gone. So how dare you go on and list all these "facts" about Hepatitis B and say I'm putting people at risk when I no longer even have it. YOU ARE WRONG. Kissing me and DATY me NOW is no danger.

You read my past threads when I discussed having Hepatitis B, but obviously your mind didn't comprehend anything I was saying. I clearly stated this was years ago. Oh and one more thing. I know all too well how easily Hepatitis B can be transmitted. I really think escorts need to focus on the risks of Hepatitis when they do BBBJ. I was lucky, I only caught the B version. If I caught the C version, I would have been sick for life. And that is the risk you all take when you do BBBJ.

I went back and got tested and all traces of it were gone. Months went by, and I still didn't escort. Eventually, I did go back, I was healthy then. Most healthy people are able to get rid of Hep B. I only shared this experience so the providers could be aware of this to protect themselves, not to have some ignorant person twist my story around. So get off your high horse, and don't talk down to me or tell me what to do. I already know way more about this then you. And I already followed all the protocols of testing and waiting before I re-entered escorting.

Here are some facts:

After you first become infected with the hepatitis B virus:
  • You may have no symptoms
  • You may feel sick for a period of days or weeks
  • You may become very ill (called fulminant hepatitis)
If your body is able to fight off the hepatitis B infection, any symptoms that you had should go away over a period of weeks to months.
Some people's bodies are not able to completely get rid of the hepatitis B infection. This is called chronic hepatitis B.
Many people who have chronic hepatitis B have few or no symptoms. They may not even look sick. As a result, they may not know they are infected. However, they can still spread the virus to other people.
Symptoms may not appear for up to 6 months after the time of infection.

People, WAKE UP. Talk with your health care provider. Get tested. You partake in a bit more risk, so take some precautions. I can't imagine a doctor that would hear that you occasionally visit a provider, or are an escort, and didn't immediately recommend Hep A and B vaccinations.

Also HIV can be detected by a Viral Load (not antibody) Test as soon as 6 days and with close to 100% accuracy at 21 days. Viral load tests are also much more accurate in individuals with flawed immune systems, where an antibody test would be unpredictable.
