It's become cool to be a dick behind a computer screen. Dallas, this is enough. Calling the old guard..

Rude and obnoxious "hobby" comments were once confined to the "old guard" weekly breakfasts but over time the coarseness of society where everyone has forgotten decency and respect for others was encouraged by the mindless people watching television shows that got worse and worse. And the attacking/slamming "hobby" comments have now moved onto the boards from the strip clubs and breakfast tables.

Come on. People are gnashing their teeth and mourning a self avowed jackass for drinking and driving when that true jackass took out 2 others including a veteran?

The ONLY reason that show was watched is because people wanted to see the worst they could and this board has reflected that attitude for way too long.

But it is not the board. It is society and until parents actually act like parents and not turn out more and more feral children to run rampant trashing on everyone else with zero negative consequences others than to be awarded a TV program or 15 minutes of fame on the local news, nothing will change.

Be leery of calling for any of the "old guard" to stand up and begin posting because over time, many have shown their true colors.

Step away from the 'whore board' for a minute and consider any Internet board. Before the Internet was popular, I used to use forums on IBM's site, Compuserve, etc. Most of the topics I participated in were computer oriented, because that was my job. But the experiences and behaviors are all the same, regardless of the type of board or subject material.

First, all postings are not equal. Yes .. there are folks who feel some sort of power flowing through the anonymity of the Internet. The ability to create a persona and a "board presence". Even so, with each posting more and more of the person is revealed. In this way the "audience" learns who it likes, dislikes, respects, thinks a foole.

While I understand Kayla's desire for civility (let's at taste and wit ... those are good, too) ... there are a lot of ass hats (both sexes) out there ... feel free to ignore them.

I do ... unless I'm in a cathartic mood.

Not sure why folks get ... annoyed by statements made by strangers which are clearly ignorant remarks. Easier to be dismissive ... and disdainful ... etc

Love you ladies ... and your various skills and ... your various accouterments ... ok .. not quite the right word ... your BOOBIES ... you know who you are ... !!! Kayla, Italiana Princess ....

That's pretty much it, here or any other Internet forum. It's not unique to this place that's for sure.

+5 Internets for mansfield for quoting xkcd. +5 more for custom title.

And +many for the idea that we might actually behave online and be civil.
First off, it is the ability to hide behind your handle that allows the arrogant harshness to come out.

I belong to a couple of internet boards and they are self-policed extremely well, but you also use your real name. Obviously, we are not going to see that here, but hiding behind a handle, or in some cases, multiple handles, is what allows this to occur.

I do find myself having less and less interest in this silly little old whore board, some of it is my old age, some of it is the smell of the crap around here. But no one deserves to be attacked, in any manner. Yes, I was guilty once of calling a guy a cheap bastard on ASPD and I was pointed for it, but he was called a lot worse than that when his true personality (or multiple personalities and handles in his case) came out.

Jules, you are a beautiful young lady. Sure, I would find the tatoo a distraction, but I find a second penis in the room a distraction (be it a TS or a MFM session). That said, I don't fault anyone for their decisions and the directions they take their hobby interests.

I learned long ago that it takes all kinds to keep this f*&^ed up world spinning in the right direction, and life would be pretty dull and boring without a few distractions and at least some people marching to that different drummer.

Too many people take this silly old whore board too serious, too many people think they have to stomp all over the 'other side' to prove their point. The world has become a mean place. Between anonymous post on electronic boards, politics, news reporters, etc., being cruel gets airtime, as the silly rabbit in Austin learned. But then, he forgot the most important rule of advertising and marketing, any publicity is good publicity. So, Jules hopefully won out in the long run.

I acutally had a parallel conversation with the SO this morning regarding the latest 'scandal' the guy on her talk radio show was discussing. I think we have tuned ourselves into the electrons flowing through our fingertips and on to Al Gores' great invention and have forgotten how to be human. There were some specific episodes of Star Trek Next Generation with DATA, the android, that were pretty prophetic in this regard.

The best feature of vbulletin is the IGNORE.

When I helped run an Undernet channel, we loved the +S command to silence an annoying person. They could see everything and post away but no other regular users could see what they posted.

I know of a hobby board where they have installed a similar hack so they can add someone to a user group where no matter what they post no one else has to see it.
this site makes for a bunch of bullies.... the guys who get bossed around a lot, feel like they have to take it out on someone. I don't even post often b/c of all the judgemental creeps out there. We all just wanna have fun why has it turned sooo damn serious.BE NICE

I am so happy the OP adressed this. This is ongoing whether it be bashing a nooby for a bad review or tearing into a provider due to ones distaste for her physical attributes. This is wrong and needs to stop, although I don't know if it can.
Always love you, Kayla

I read rrrabbit's post and couldn't help thinking what a jerk! But it's the reaction people like that crave. If he couldn't get a gasp of a head being shook in disgust he wouldn't have gotten his short-lived rush of satisfaction. If there's anything to be learned from cruel comments like his it's that he's likely lived a less-than-satisfying life. I don't know if he's been betrayed, abandoned, fired or purged from the cadre of people that might call him friend but it's sad that he relishes being hurtful. I agree with what you said Kayla but I still feel a great deal of pity for the OP of the thread you posted.
