ISO dinning & fun in KC

There are a couple brazilian BBQ places in KC which are nice and offer something different than the usual. Best Tacos al Pastor vote has to go to "Taco Express" on Independence Ave off of I-435. For a quick greek salad or a large number of subs... I'd go to Planet Sub.
The Plaza offers many great medium to high end eats... McCormick & Schmick is one of my favs... Cheesecake Factory, Hibachi's, Kona Grill, and Jack Stack BBQ round out some good ones in that area.
For breakfast... I'd say Corner Cafe, Ingredient and Eggtc are three of my favorite places to munch.
Sushi... go to the Intercontinental or RA Sushi... Best time to go to RA is anytime betweek 3 - 7pm Monday - Saturday... they have the best happyhour prices on sushi and drinks. I went there last night... had I gone during happy hour, I could have saved about $40 on my whole meal. Originally Posted by FireSerpent

Hi Kitten and Maria,

Please disregard Silly Girl. Most of us do. She's still angry that someone dropped a house on her sister.

Welcome to KC! If you have any questions while you are here, my PM's are open. For good eats I vote for Jazz (Cajun food), Manny's (mexican food) and Sweet Tomatoes (soup and salad buffet). Since I'm not a big BBQ fan I'll let the recommendations others have made for BBQ stand.

Take care, have fun, and be safe!

xoxo

If I was going to be in town, I was prepared to offer Maria an excellent dining location , but... not to be this trip, damn it!

Manny's for Mexican, JackStack for BBQ, Kona for sushi, Cheesecake Factory for (duh) cheesecake!

Yes, some people have been a little "witchy" in Kansas City, but I appreciate your hospitality!
Dropped a house on her sister? SillyGirl should meet with my friend the Wizard of Ahhhhs!
Maybe he can make her better with his "magic wand".

Kitten and Maria,

Hope you didn't think my prior post in the thread was me being snarky with you. I mean, I was being snarky, but...

In all seriousness, you've got some great suggestions so far, and I would agree with most if not all of them. If you're into sushi, Kona on the Plaza is pretty good...and the Melting Pot, right next door, is a fun and different way to spend a meal. I would give a second vote to Jack Stack for BBQ, but if you go you must get the prime rib bone (my favorite 'cue item ever!).

Also, the McDonalds near Costco on Main Street is nasty. Just FYI.

Ha! Hilarious!

And sins has good taste also! I second her opinion of Jazz for cajun food. The restaurant by KU Medical center is my favorite. There is also a Jazz in the Legends which I hear is not quite as good.

For BBQ there are many good restaurance but Oklahoma Joe's is the best.

Ignore such low (high) standard Silly witchy people and enjoy the stay in KC.

If super good coffee is your thing (as it is mine), check out Broadway Cafe. Partway between the Plaza area and downtown on Broadway, I have loved that spot for years!

As for good food, many fabulous restaurants found in the Plaza. You could always try Garozzo's downtown for some yummy Italian...

Enjoy!

I vote for you ladies to go the Melting Pot. They have somewhat private rooms that you can have some fun in. And yes, I'm speaking from experience.

And they do have good food. lol

I keep hearing about this Oklahoma Joe's for great BBQ. WTH. Why not call it Kansas Joe's or Missouri Joe's? How can a place with Oklahoma in the title be considered a great BBQ place in KC? This is sacrilege.

I agree that the Melting Pot is a lot of fun, and can be romantic as hell. It is a great place to take a visiting lady to get to know her

However, it is a chain restaurant with almost 200 locations around the country (including two in the DFW area). I hope that some of the KC gents would take the opportunity to take these fine ladies somewhere unique to our town, and show them what we really have to offer.
