Strange that no one's mentioned a taco truck. There's hundreds of them here in Houston and some have incredible business. Originally Posted by gnadfly

Jack in the Box tacos are kind of a cult thing.
I've been eating them since the mid 60's.
Place on the gulf freeway right off Monroe called Tacos Tec that give me actual Mexican street taco vibes. Highly recommend it.

Kinda late to the taco party -- story of my life...🙂

Check out Berryhill's. Several franchised locations. Great HH and great tacos -- fish, bf, ck etc.

Great backstory too. The original tamale cart of Mr. Berryhill? is chained up to the the street sign at the location near Westheimer and Kirby. Tamales were sold on the street way back in the day.

The backstory stretches back to the early 1900s and the "Chile Queens" in San Antonio that Teddy Roosevelt and many others enjoyed and is a big part of our Tex Mex today.

Kinda a "The more you know" guy, but the tacos still represent.

I'll a couple down south of town.

In Seabrook, Caribbean style. Not TexMex.

At the Texas City Dike. I really like the shrimp tacos. I phone in the order, pick it up then drive a few minutes and eat it on the dike overlooking the water.

Don't forget to try the Hispanic meat markets that are found around town. I've got one near me that makes breakfast tacos with barbacoa, cilantro, onions, white cheese and salsa. My first thought was no way, but I'm a true believer now. Its the only breakfast taco I will eat anymore.
If you like carnitas tacos there is an Exxon station on the corner of W. Greens Rd. and Cutten Road that is excellent. They use twice as much meat as any others I have found and the pork is delicious.
There used to be a taco stand near Sharpstown.
Next to Whataburger(behind cvs) TO BE SPECIFIC that lady has been there for YEARS! Beechnut & Fondren Road.
She has some of the best tacos that I have had out of a taco stand.

A gent took me to this little spot in Montrose last week. Hands down they had some of the best tacos & enchiladas. I had brought a girlfriend along so I sampled hers! Great drinks & food!

a tad off topic but for subs i'll go with Jersey Mike's over anyone!!

never had a bad sub there. my fav is Mike's famous Philly. far better than Subway's rather bland version.

my only complaint on Jersey Mike's is even when i tell them light on the vinegar/oil they still lay it on.
