the results of the Drake equation makes it a certainty there is other intelligent life in the Universe, and certainly in our own galaxy. with more data coming in daily from new telescopes and better measurements the variables of the Drake equation become more accurate. the sheer number of possible planets that could support life is overwhelmingly in favor of other intelligent life.
then there is what the esteemed scientist and sci-fi author Arthur C. Clarke said ..

There might be life outside our solar system in this or other galazies, problem is the constant of the universe - the speed of light - and any evidence of life on other planets comes from thousands/millions/billions of light years away - which means we see only the distant past in our searched of the heavens - and cannot know what exists on another celestial body at our present moment of consciousness.
