I'm pretty sure this was written out of spite, but I doubt the OP is alone in his/her feelings. I've found myself on the receiving side of points for relatively innocuous comments that were perceived as too personal. However, have seen mods interject and make comments that were far more personal and attacking.

Ya know what...that's life! Fact is power will always have the potential to breed some level of corruptibility whether it's on this website or in congress. Fortunately, it's a lot easier to leave a website behind.

As for a solution or at least a constructive comment: I personally think that mods should only be allowed to post if it's in relation to something "mod-related", I.e. warning to close a thread, off topic, etc... I don't believe that mods should be able to post otherwise. This would help prevent associations of bias among the mod-members (of which it seems there's a new one every other week).

Just like a politician giving up a vast majority of their privacy to serve the public. You want to be a mod...then you have to give up your right to interject personal opinions into board matters.

I believe in moderation in all things except drink and Hobby fun.

Actualy I am in favor of a 2ed handle for mods so they can post without the restrictive nature of having mod under the handle. But, then we would get accused of abusing that as well.

IMO, the mods here are a lot like NBA referees. It's a necessary role, and a thankless one at that. No matter what they do or don't do, they're going to piss somebody off. Sure, every now and then one's ego may take over to the point that they forget they're there to regulate the action rather than control it, but that's human nature.

I think we may even have had our own version of Tim Donaghy, but what do I know?
