The NBA Season

I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of 60000 protesters gathering in a small area being healthy but letting a couple hundred people sit down in a restaurant being unsafe.
In reality I've got no problems with a peaceful protest. What I have a problem with is them being encouraged to come out when we've wrecked our economy over the last two months because people were told to stay home.

Anyone else notice the conspicuous absence of Comandante Hidalgo over the last few days?
She Guevara will be back making pronouncements after the Floyd funeral (Flynn if you're SJL).

I don't know why they would bother coming back, for an abbreviated playoff system. just start the new season in October, or whenever. that is not that far away.

They don't want to have a non season on the books. It would make a helluva trivia question for the next generations though. Which NBA season has no champion?

Also, it could possibly lead to a different season next year and then going forward. Some have advocated to cutting the number of games and waiting until around Christmas to start the season. That first month and a half is not very profitable for most teams and many arenas are empty until then. This would be a good excuse to give that a try.
Interesting. One player floated the players forming their own league. Didn't sit well with KD.

Will Nike and Disney buy the "governors" out?

If the season starts as currently planned there will be an 8 game seeding "tournament" among the 16 teams who are currently "in" and another 6 who are within 6 games of 8th place in each conference. The playoffs will proceed as usual. 16 teams. Tie breakers would be the usual with the possibility of a play in game if all other tie breakers were eliminated.

The tournament would start July 31 and the season would wrap up by the end of October. The new, 2021 season would start sometime in December.
The remainder of the season would be played at Walt Disney World Resorts where the players and staff and crews would also be isolated.
A lottery draft would be held August 25 after the tournament played out and those draft positions could then be determined.
It sounds like the biggest obstacle at the moment is getting Disney under contract.

Yeah, there will be plenty of unpleasant business decisions to go around.

I hope they play this year with the current standings, starting fresh next year isn't fair for the teams that have been playing good and earned their spot this season

NBA is back July 30th!
Was just told 5% of the players tested positive for COVID. They shut down the season because 2 players test positive.

Doesn't look good. Again. Go directly to the playoffs with 8 teams and get it over with.

I don't look to NBA players for my astronomical advice. However, the guy did attend Duke.
