Texas breaks 10,000 cases in one day

Went by the local hospital, parking lot much less than 50% full.

Where's the calls for ventilators?

Just looked at the Texas COVID website. 6 COVID deaths in 4 days in Harris County. Destroy the economy because of this?

The pandemic is over. The Dem panic isn't.

More importantly, Trump should have scared the hell out of everyone RIGHT FROM THE START. He should have worn a mask himself, made the WH staff wear them, and harangued the US population, especially his base, to wear masks.

Social pressure is more powerful in this case than threats of fines or jail. Originally Posted by Kinkster90210

IHME's projections are controversial on this board, but their forecasts with universal masking are worth a look:

https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america

Scroll down to "daily deaths" and look at the difference between the universal masking case and the other two cases -- 200 deaths per day come November, versus 860 for their base case and 1300 for their "easing" case.

Texas is even more stark, 187 deaths per day for base and "easing" cases versus 30 for universal masking:

https://covid19.healthdata.org/unite...-america/texas

My gut tells me we won't actually get to 187, either because some good things happen (for example most people wear masks and treatments continue to improve) or we end up with another lockdown.

In Trump's defense, you can't blame it all on him. The responses of the CDC, the FDA, the health care system, some of the governors, they were all lacking. This is a national embarrassment considering we spend 18% of GDP on health care and have some of the best doctors and research institutions in the world.
Cases have quadrupled.

If deaths don't quadruple then we will have beaten this thing and done so with a significantly better outcome than New York.

And you picked out ONE county for deaths?

Texas was below 2600 deaths just a few days ago. Now TX is at 2823. We added 283 deaths in under a week. It took 4 months to get to 2500. And you don't think the problem is getting worse?

The entire scientific world - and anyone that can count - says that the pandemic is accelerating in the US and elsewhere, but you think it is over based on your distortions of statistics for Harris County.

You are a sociopath.

And review these statistics for TX:

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/texas/

Harris county lost 6 JUST yesterday. Not in 4 days. Dallas lost 9, Tarrant lost 10. In total, TX lost 85 people yesterday and the rate is increasing. How long until we hit NY numbers? 2 weeks? 3 weeks?

Look at the TX projections page:

https://covid19.healthdata.org/unite...-america/texas

Not good. But it shows what a difference masks make.

The panic will not subside until Biden gets into office.

Many of the old people who died were close to death anyway and the flu would have gotten them in a few months.

When it's my time to go I just hope I'm coherent enough to take a few liberals with me as a final service to a once great nation!

In a bad year, flu kills 50K. We are already at 140K in only 4 months. We will have over 200K by the end of the year. So, no, we are losing a LOT more than flu alone would take.

Houston's hospitals are on trak to be overwhelmed in approximately two weeks as cases mount, Mayor Sylvester Turner said on CBS’ “Face The Nation” on Sunday. People of color are being disproportionately impacted, particularly Hispanic residents, he said...

Remember when the COVID models said we would only lose 65K people in 2020? Now that model says we lose 208K by November:... Originally Posted by Kinkster90210

I don't read CDNC unless I just need a good chuckle. Did they include the below from the locals in Houston?

Leaders of Houston’s 4 largest hospitals say capacity is in good shape as coronavirus cases increase

...“There is not a scenario, in my opinion, to where the demand for our beds, especially ICUs, ventilators, PPE, etcetera, would eclipse our capability,” said Mark Wallace, the President and CEO of Texas Children’s Hospital...

...“Just that number is being misinterpreted and, quite frankly, we’re concerned that there is a level of alarm in the community that is unwarranted right now,” Boom said...

...However, the hospitals in the Texas Medical Center are equipped to deal with a surge in COVID-19 hospitalizations.

The CEOs said they have a sustained surge protection plan in place, meaning other beds in other rooms could be used to house patients if it becomes necessary.

“We have plenty of capacity,” said Dr. David Callender, of Memorial Hermann....

We gonna need to move the goalposts again and gin up some more fear porn?

Gee, 99 days to get to 1M, 43 to get to 2M, 28 to get to 3M.

Help me out here, Fred. There is a name for that type of growth, isn't there?, No, no, it's not linear. What is it again? Experimental, expository, explanatory... The word escapes me. What word it is Fred?
If it is any consolation, lots of countries are fucking it up. Israel nearly had it beat, but they reopened in mid-May. Look at the up and down graph in this article:

Over 600 new cases a day in early April, down to a handful per day in lat May, now worse then ever - back up to over 900 per day in July.
Yes there have now been over 3 million confirmed cases ..... what percentage of 3 million is 133,000? (that's how many have died) and what percentage of 3 million is 542,000? (that's how many have recovered) ..... seems as though since this virus is, after all "Trump's fault", the Dipshits and the Libturds conveniently leave out that last number, don't they?? .....
