I am not saying he would survive it, but the plane wouldn't just fall like a rock like some reports indicate. Now if his plane was sabotaged somehow causing an explosion the plane would lose it's structure and descend quite rapidly. Plus he was over water and that's not good. But he had been flying since 1982 that's about 17 years. He had a good bit of experience.
