They have already identified the first cases of the Omicron variant in Europe. Unless we shut down all air travel, it's probably going to be worldwide soon enough, in some amount, if the contagion factor for this new variant is accurate. Whether it can "outcompete" a variant like Delta is the real question, as Delta is not that great of a presence down in ZA.
