possums- Dont eat good! But they are natural snake hunters and are somewhat immune to their poisons! If you dont have chickens or other [foul] they are good to have around the house or camp in the hill country.
coons- Greasy and dont eat good! Being a country boy i can tell instantly if youre a city slick by how you say or spell coon! Again, if you dont have yard birds. Coons are good to have around and will keep the feral cats away! Also I have coon hounds and have spent many a nights in creek beds listening to coon hounds chase them masked bandits!
Coons can be pests. But god dang I respect the furry lil suckers!

Used to hunt them coons with a carbide light. We would also tree them and catch them a toe sack , throw them in the water and turn the dogs loose on them. Fun back in the day. Hunted pin oak and hood creek a many a night, nothing like the sound of some good dogs in pursuit.
