Sushi: Thai Bistro and Sushi off De Zavala about 1 mile west of I-10 near the little post office, they also have a fried roll that rocks!! and the owners there are SUPER nice.

AS far as steaks, the best one in town (IMO) is on Patricia Ave off 410 and called the Barn door. (not the little red barn) The barn door is ridculously good and moderately priced at about 30 $ a person for the full meal.
Seriously, hot as you are, I would avoid the Little Red Barn Steakhouse--hot as you are you might cause some of the octogenerians there to have a stroke or a heart attack, although you would look good in one of those cowgirl costumes the waittresses wear.
+1...hillarious, Flinde!

Hi Traci, good to see you've decided to visit SA! Here are my suggestions:

Steaks:
1. If you like Filets...Little Rhein Steakhouse. They have a summer special 3-course meal for $49: http://www.littlerheinsteakhouse.com/menu.php
2. Ounce Prime Steakhouse: http://www.ounceprimesteakhouse.com/
3. Chamaguacha: http://www.chamagaucha.com/

Sushi:
1. Godai: http://godaisushi.com/ Huge selection of sushi rolls
2. Sushihana: http://www.sushihanasan.com/
3. Sake Cafe: http://www.yelp.com/biz/sake-cafe-san-antonio

Have fun!

+1 for Chama Gaucha!!!! Just get ready to take a long nap afterward from all the blood leaving your head to digest all that yummy meat!

I would also highly recommend Tip Top cafe off of Fredericksberg Rd. Although it has all the appearances of a tiny little diner with nothing special about it, it has been featured a few times on Food Network and the Travel Channel. They have some of the best, well, anything really, but their claim to fame are their pies which are fresh baked daily and when they run out, they're out so order ahead! Also, fried chicken which will blow your socks off! You can't go wrong.
Welcome to San Antonio, tracibrooks. Since we dont have that stinking Mark Cuban here, our city is a wonderful place. Fucking idiot, coaching from his wallet.

With all due respect, and not to be sexist or anything tracibrooks, I examined your showcase pics very carefully. In my opinion, with a rack like yours, you should never have to pay anything for a steak dinner anywhere.

Seriously, hot as you are, I would avoid the Little Red Barn Steakhouse--hot as you are you might cause some of the octogenerians there to have a stroke or a heart attack, although you would look good in one of those cowgirl costumes the waittresses wear. Originally Posted by flinde

On another note, WOW! Thanks for all the awesome suggestions. I didn't get to try any out yet, but I'm sure hoping to! The bartender at Applebee's told me that your comedy club here is pretty good, but I think I missed open mic night, which is always fun. Oh well, I'll have to take a look at what's going on there the next few days.

On yet another note. Hypothetical question: What would you do if your hotel FORGOT your WAKE UP CALL? Not that this happened to me or anything. Lol. My internal alarm (read: bladder) woke me up in time, but still, it's the principle of the thing, don't you think?

Traci, about Mark Cuban, well, he started it by bashing San Antonio way back when. They may not publish such things up in Dallas. But as you are a visitor to our fair city, we won't trouble you with such things.

As for the wake up call, I have never had a hotel fail me yet, but I nevertheless always worry about that. Missing one flight can really ruin one's day. Sometimes out of paranoia I set my watch alarm.

Enjoy your stay! I'm sure I will...

Tracy...

Enjoy your time here. I hope you find all that you are looking for.

As for Mark Cuban, here is a little something from that episode...

Lol. I'm just going to sit here in my championship t-shirt and pretend I didn't see that. :P

I agree with Flinde. A girl as pretty as you shouldn't have to buy dinner or drinks.

If your a beer drinker try the Blue Star Restaurant & Brewery off South Alamo & Probabt. The sweet potato fries are awesome and they make great homemade beer.
She said she doesn't drink tallgeese, darn shame! So, Traci...you don't drink, like Mark Cuban, and sit around in your lonely championship T-shirt? Why live? (lol) Jk...but, you best get that t-shirt bronzed hon!

I'm sure she's not lonely here with the shirt, Nikki.
Got more than enough suggestions with places to go, things to do.
And thanks for the Sushi recommendations. Only ate it once in my life and LOVED it. (Prepared by a friend.)

Doesn't drink? Missed that part. But the food is still great anyways. Oh and if you want a good breakfast the Guenther House is right across the street. The biscuits are great.

for the cost and in a not so shabby looking place j. alexander's has a great prime rib. as far as attractions, this town is said to be one of the most haunted towns. some coworkers were talking with a client today who mentioned on a previous trip here taking a haunted tour on the segways downtown. also we have the mcnay art museum, to stay out the heat, as well as the witte.

enjoy your stay here.

i second the mention of magnolia pancake. they will be featured on diners, drive in, and dives in the near future as well as beto's on broadway. the alamo heights and broadway area always have interesting places to eat as well.
