"We should have brought long guns and taking care of this thing,"
Question, what was "..this thing" referring to? That is an admission of an act and involvement in it. The act would be stopping the process of certifying the Presidential election. The assault did temporarily stop the process. That is sedition to which three Oath Keepers have plead guilty. They are cooperating with the Government, this is an on going investigation.
Hyperbole is an exaggerated statement not meant to be taken literally. William Todd Wilson, an Oath Keeper brought a rifle to DC. Guns were stock piled at various locations around DC. It looks like guns were brought to Trumps speech. There were people that refused to go through the metal detectors to hear Trump's speech. When Trump was informed of this he said something to the effect of - it's okay, they aren't here to hurt me. Regardless, the issue of guns is a red herring in the overall discussion of sedition.
For years right-wing fringe groups has been training for the call to action against the Government or whatever power was the flavor if the day. If you listen to the testimony of various actors charged with Jan 6th crimes, it's clear that Trump gave them a motive and a call to action. Many expected a Presidential pardon. I think it was around end of Dec 2021 and there was a Chatubate model talking about the Jan 6th rally and that people were taking guns (to DC).
Also note the notation of "gives aid or comfort thereto". This is why Trumps apparent refusal to do anything for three hours or so while Congressmen and his family asked him to make a statement matters.
Here is the court filing for William Todd Wilson.
