it's obvious actually. there is a process to contest the certification. keep the process from happening and it stops (prevents) any challenges. the Democrats are the ones who wanted to prevent Republican challenges and they used the "crisis" to do just that.

the Democrats didn't even follow proper procedure to register a challenge, they just stood up and started speaking without Biden as VP's permission to do so.


the procedure calls for a written motion that requires both a member of the House and a member of the Senate to be valid and force the VP to hear the challenge.
