Why do civilians need assault rifles in their collections? LOL. Because the second amendment does not apply to bazookas, grenades, missiles etc because it applied to the standard infantry mans weapons of the day... the same as it does today. It does not say that the right to heavy artillery shall not be infringed... it specifically is a talking about "arms" which in that day referred to Shoulder and hand held arms. The definition of “assault” I see is “an attempt to initiate harmful or offensive contact with a person, or threat to do so.” So to me, it means that a person is the only one who can actually commit an assault on someone else.
