Voters make their choices in a booth, with the curtains closed, then place their ballot in an envelope that is then put into a transparent ballot box. They must show photo identification and sign a document, next to their name, to complete the process.

Multiple days of voting requires storage of ballots and/or results by it’s nature. If a person feels it’s their duty as a citizen to vote, they can certainly carve out an hour of their time, with a years notice, on a federal holiday. For many people in large cities, and tiny rural areas, it's way more than an "hour of their time". Especially when Republican governors keep eliminating polling locations (all part of the plan when they know they need low voter turnout to win a lot of the time).
