The new Speaker is polite, respectful, likeable, funny and self-deprecating. Everything Trump ain't.

Do you like trumpy's style better? Make up your mind!

I guess you NEED someone like trumpy to push your rage button, dontcha? It's ok to admit it.

Just like all the other maga fucking assholes, he's an extremist and holds extreme views on women's rights, lgbtq+ rights, and was one of the leads that pushed to throw out the 2020 election results, so either he's stupid as fuck that he believed the insurrectionist treasonist traitor tRump's election lies or he's also a traitor that broke his oath to uphold the constitution and rule of law by trying to keep the insurrectionist treasonist traitor tRump in office. Anyway you look at it, he's an election denying maga asshole piece of shit.

Gee rmg, those 7 core principles don't strike me as extreme at all! Which ones do you have a problem with? You don't like individual freedom? Do you oppose human dignity? Do you prefer fiscal irresponsibility?

Extremists support open borders, coddling criminals, wasteful out-of-control govt spending, foreign policy fecklessness. Do those sound more like dim-retard core values?

It says very simply, "These words were placed above us, this motto was placed here as a rebuke of the Cold War-era philosophy of the Soviet Union. That philosophy was Marxism and Communism, which begins with the premise that there is no God."

"This is a critical distinction that is also articulated in our nation's birth certificate. We know the language well. The famous second paragraph that we used to have children memorize in school -- and they don't do that so often anymore but they should.

G.K. Chesterton was the famous British philosopher and statesman. He said one time, "America is the only nation in the world that is founded upon a creed." He said, "It is listed with almost theological lucidity in the Declaration of Independence."

What is our creed? "We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal."

Not born equal. Created equal.

And they're endowed by the same "inalienable rights, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness."

That is the creed that has animated our nation since its founding and has made us the great nation that we are."

You presented that "In God We Trust" being printed/embossed on currency was approved/known by the founders, which seemingly proves that they hold the same religious conviction on all matters as you (and others).

That phrase was first used on coins minted during the civil war era. Not colonial times. From a simple search: The Coinage Act of 1873 allowed for the motto to be printed on all newly minted coins, and on July 11, 1955, Congress passed H.R. 619 which mandated "In God We Trust" be included on all U.S. currency. "In God We Trust" first appeared on paper money in 1957 on the one-dollar silver certificate. So as I pointed out, that picture has nothing to do with the founding fathers. And your follow up didn't even reference anything from that time period. That was the subject on which I posted and you ignored or didn't comprehend.

If you want to know what the founding fathers felt about religion, you really need to read The Federalist Papers and other writings. But from what I've read, I don't think that they would approve of the concept that the new speaker was appointed by the Christian God or many of his actions that have already been pointed out.

As for the rule of law and peace through strength, this fucking maga extremist asshole questioned the fairness of the election system and questioned its integrity, filed a written submission to the Supreme Court trying unsuccessfully to invalidate results in 4 states, voted against certifying the 2020 election results on January 6th. Voted against the commission to investigate the January 6th roit/insurrection, and called the January 6th riot/insurrection a "legitimate political discourse". So this election denying extremist maga insurrectionist treasonist traitor actions don't support the rule of law or piece through strength.

As for individual freedoms and human dignity, this fucking maga extremist asshole is against women's rights and issues. Totally anti-abortion insisting that is only women were compelled to bring more able bodied workers into the world which is reminiscent to the Handmaid's tale. He is totally against LGBTQ+ rights and is actively working to claw back gains made by LGBTQ+ Americans. So this election denying extremist maga insurrectionist treasonist traitor actions don't support individual freedoms and human dignity.

As far as limited government and fiscal responsibility, this fucking maga extremist asshole along with fellow Republicans raised the debt ceiling 3 times under the insurrectionist treasonist traitor tRump to the tune of 7.8 trillion dollars in just 4 years. Voted for enormous tax cuts for the ultra rich and corporations.

So while the fucking maga extremist asshole Mike Johnson can stand at the mic and spout buzz words, his actions don't support his talk, but like any and all things maga, lies, bullshit, and misinformation is all they got. Just a group of hateful, racist, homopobic, xenophobic, deplorable people and asshole Mike Johnson certainly fits that category.

While there is / was no doubt that the principles of the founding fathers were rooted in a Judeo-Christian background, there has also been a long standing separation between the church and state, and a lot of legal cases and precedent that religion should not encroach into the realm of political and legal decisions other than no law should "limit" the individual's practice of any religion. It's odd to me, and should be to any here on the hooker board, that one person's religion, should have an impact on my way of life, or vice versa. It's that determination to limit the input of religion on laws that is why our country thrives. It's not so a bunch of zealots can just come in and insert themselves into making policy cause it fits their religious directive and tone.

That's why the GOP lost a lot of their Red Wave- w Roe v Wade.
It's obviously this Speakers tone and intent to further that same intent.
Women don't like it when white men specifically tell them what they can or cannot do with their own bodies.
Additonally, this new Gent can be as polite as pie, but he's gonna get absolutely zero done in the house with his prior convictions of determination to overthrow the election with his bogus Texas v. PA lawsuit, and climate denial.

I'll summize the above with a quote from the man Mike Johnson himself: '“And I am a lawyer. I don’t engage in conspiracy theory. I want to deal in fact and truth,”

Facts' matter?? Well only the ones he likes.

oh- the big lie, the climate denier, absolute faith in religion-but less than so with things like how much his doners from the oil and gas business are putting in his pocket to affect his policies. Johnson, along with all other House Republican leaders in 2021, voted against establishing a national commission to investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection

He wants to hide the facts that are now surfacing in Georgia, and has led to all the pleas of guilt, and how about him signing the pledge to limit house members to 3 terms. YUP. He's now in his 4th, term, so you tell me.....

HOW is this guy representing a new form of MAGA designed leadership other than another Trump synchophant religious zeolite who is hell bent on making abortion illegal anywhere, and that his god, knows best compared to you or your beliefs?

Add to the list above he's a fucking hypocrite in his 4th term sucking on the government teet, just like all the other douchebags who have been elected to congress. The level of hypocrisy is what is hilarious. Each speaker nomination was full of so much felating from their congressional party during the presentation, I'm surprised they didn't start blowing him on the way to take the gavel. And likely all to appease little donnie douchbag in an attempt to shield him politically.

It's a shame you GOP supporters don't call out ppl like this who would rather put legislation in to limit your rights based on his religion. He's another fucking nutjob from the south, who has poured so much religion into making his life make sense, that he clearly knows what's best for all the heathens on this board and elsewhere.
Ask our Founders.

The United States was not founded as a Christian nation. The founding fathers were Christians, yes, but their ideal nation wasn't shackled by people's interpenetration of a thousand year old universe fan fiction rewritten countless times

Well said String Nutts

...but, then again, we're trying to talk to the camp that believes dinosaurs are fake, that Trump won, and that J6 was a peaceful legal protest.. so it's no surprise that they will deny their god given claim to bring ruin to the world.
Which god? Allah? Buddha? Zeus? Thor?

Saying you believe in a god doesn't make much sense unless you tell us which story book you have faith in. Originally Posted by onawbtngr546
