You're not responding to the subject of my post. Let's recap.


You presented that "In God We Trust" being printed/embossed on currency was approved/known by the founders, which seemingly proves that they hold the same religious conviction on all matters as you (and others).


That phrase was first used on coins minted during the civil war era. Not colonial times. From a simple search: The Coinage Act of 1873 allowed for the motto to be printed on all newly minted coins, and on July 11, 1955, Congress passed H.R. 619 which mandated "In God We Trust" be included on all U.S. currency. "In God We Trust" first appeared on paper money in 1957 on the one-dollar silver certificate. So as I pointed out, that picture has nothing to do with the founding fathers. And your follow up didn't even reference anything from that time period. That was the subject on which I posted and you ignored or didn't comprehend.



If you want to know what the founding fathers felt about religion, you really need to read The Federalist Papers and other writings. But from what I've read, I don't think that they would approve of the concept that the new speaker was appointed by the Christian God or many of his actions that have already been pointed out.

While there is / was no doubt that the principles of the founding fathers were rooted in a Judeo-Christian background, there has also been a long standing separation between the church and state, and a lot of legal cases and precedent that religion should not encroach into the realm of political and legal decisions other than no law should "limit" the individual's practice of any religion. It's odd to me, and should be to any here on the hooker board, that one person's religion, should have an impact on my way of life, or vice versa. It's that determination to limit the input of religion on laws that is why our country thrives.
