Interesting thread. How are other parts of the US doing with the availability of non-asians? Although unemployment is low participation rate is still lower the pre-pandemic levels. The rate is currently about equal to early 1980s levels. A steady decline from about 2000 to 2015 was attributed to baby boomers retirement and leaving the work force. From about 2015 a slow increase was taking place until the pandemic. Where are people getting there money? Ask anyone in food service how easy is it to find workers? Until we have a recovery in participation rate service will continue to be spotty. I dont think Canada has these problems but maybe someone with knowledge can comment.

Depending upon visa requirements, they need to leave and come back to start the clock again on a tourist, school, or other temporary visa timeline. I signed temporary work visa applications for hotels maids to the point I lost count. At one place we had a dozen or so gals, all from one large extended family. Promoted the eldest aunt to supervisor, she got a green card, and ended up with no issues at all with maids for over a year.
