I do have to say a frat brother of mine is a big wig in Florida GSA district, he’s said he’s gotten memos from DOGE and Elon to rescind every lease in district only to have another memo come 5 hours later rescinding that order and to close 30 govt locations a week minimum only to have that rescinded less than 12 hours later to close 50 percent of locations immediately only to have that rescinded to 39 locations per week once again. I talked to him for his birthday when he told me of this clusterfk parade of marching orders. He claims they haven’t a clue of what’s actually needed and what’s not, and cost savings? Buying out govt leases isn’t the normal 2 months notice as lessors are required fairly steep upfront costs along with all bills / expenses all paid by lessors (inclusive rent) and these leases are min 5 year deals for most part w out an early payoff discount. You can utilize low hanging fruit and cancel leases that are close to expiration but many have a majority of the lease due, to pay that off is a waste of money for a lot of them as the govt does need some space, SSA are older and handicapped people who need personal assistance for many items. Closing everything or majority down will cause such a chaotic scene over next few years dems waltz in and have to find lease space once again or the republicans force musk and trump to realize they need to reopen some if not over 50 percent of these offices again and it’s basically double paying/ it will be more costly that just actually doing it the correct way.

This guy is a regional head and he’s just shaking his head how inept this doge leadership is, most of what they are claiming to save is make believe and their continual changing of directives/orders is a testament that they are doing more harm than good.

Real problem is only partially big govt, only partially pet projects, SSA and Medicaid is what everyone knows it is and even that’s not the big issue, the biggest issue is the continued tax cuts and tax favoritism to the rich and to big corporations. Tax receipts are dropping, a strong stock market inflated the underlying tax receipts for years. When my effective tax rate is higher than a majority of the rich and all corporations, that’s unfair and an issue. That corps get so much extra free money from said subsidies that all they can figure to do is stock buy backs and huge bonuses for already rich CEO’s. I’m all for capitalism but this surely isn’t capitalism, that one can increase profits by being fat and lazy, can fail only to be bailed out by taxpayers, it’s no wonder the rest of the world is catching and in some instances pass us w regards to innovative new products.

The rich deserve their money but when rules/ laws start grabbing taxpayers monies to benefit these big wigs, well that’s something else altogether

Trumps a riverboat gambler. With that ego he has to make bold moves. We’ll see what “a wee bit” of headache means. I think it would have made sense to give foreign manufacturers a couple years notice, not a couple months to move some manufacturing here.

Salty, I’m the furthest thing from liberal and that said, Trump and Elon are just throwing out half witted not well (if even) thought out orders that get changed early and often. I do understand about throwing the threats and holding the big stick to get other nations to come to the table and I’m fine with that it, it’s about time we demand more of our so called friends….if that was all he’s was throwing out there and backing off I could somewhat understand but it’s not, the Russian Putin mancrush, the back and forth w so called govt closings, firings, ect without and planning what so ever is something you see in failed companies or poorly run organizations. I’m the first to admit govt needs to shrink big time but you need some sort of final solution plan for “EFFICIENCY” and at first glance, these clowns are the most inefficient pair I’ve seen. The premise is fine, cut waste and right size, quit sending money to enemy states, quit pushing lib agendas down everyone’s throats and paying for BS like trans surgeries, inmate surgeries for trans…parents of kids getting procedures done under 10 years old should be charged w child endangerment as these kids haven’t a clue yet what they want for life, they aren’t adults, can’t drive, vote, drink ect…I hope that crap gets cracked down on.
