Start me up: ‘car guy’ Joe Biden accelerates push to turn America electric
This article is more than 3 years old
The president plans a record investment away from gas-powered cars – but Republicans in Congress could thwart his plans
On a hot, sunny day in Michigan, Joe Biden zoomed around in a new electric version of the Ford F150, one of the automaker’s most famous vehicles.
“This sucker’s quick,” Biden said as he drove up to reporters at Ford’s Rouge Electric Vehicle Center last month.
Biden, a self-proclaimed American “car guy”, was there to tout electric vehicles, a key component of his administration’s trillion-dollar-plus infrastructure proposal.
“The future of the auto industry is electric. There’s no turning back,” Biden said. “The question is whether we will lead or we will fall behind in the race to the future.”
The proposed $174bn investment in electric vehicles represents the biggest ever White House push from fossil-fuel based vehicles and toward battery-powered cars. The Biden administration has made environmentalism and sustainability a key pillar to its job creation efforts, and the president wants to dramatically increase the number of electric vehicles on the road and the infrastructure for manufacturing them...
Just like President Trump - I'm gonna perchase a Tesla also! Why wait?! Do your share for the economy! I did.
As soon as they come down in price...

For those playing the whataboutism goofball game about Biden and a Jeep and comparing it to Trump promoting Teslas, Biden was promoting clean cars made in America and the environmental benefit of EVs.^^^ What this guy said ^^^
I am pretty sure whoever the hell the CEO of Stellantis is did not get Biden elected and was not given arguably the most powerful role within our government for helping him get his old job back so he can fuck up even more in the 2.0 version... Biden was not promoting a specific company that he had direct ties to. Trump was promoting Elon's cars.
Trump could give two shits about the climate and EVs... he was trying to help out his new butt buddy who owns (biggest shareholder) a company that has lost a material amount of its market cap and is probably about to get sued by many of its shareholders who invested in a thriving company and not a South African immigrant to ruin their investment because he wants to play unelected president in the USA.
I completely agree as do many others. We shouldn't have a president who wants to be in front of the cameras every damn day. If many wanted that, they would have voted for one of the Kardashians. Originally Posted by Lucas McCain

So some say Trump promoting Tesla, made in the USA, is muchos bad, even though he purchased one of them out of his own pocket. ... Originally Posted by Why_Yes_I_DoNo. They are saying he is pushing a fellow grifter.
