Did You Notice What Vanished From The Atlantic's Narrative About the Hegseth Signal Story?

Why is the US Government using Signal (or any other private service) to discuss any government related? I'm sure this sort of thing was going on before this admin, but it has to stop. Take some of that money DOGE is saving all of us, and invest in making a US Government only secure messaging system tied only to personnel who have .gov accounts. Then, you can't "accidentally" add a JOURNALIST to those conversations. Originally Posted by SecretE

I mean, it's not like we need someone that is a rocket scientist, but it wouldn't hurt. Can't be all that hard to find someone like that if they just look or ask around a little. What about Craigslist?

But even then, you still have to solve for that random, "unknown staffer", putting together a list of only 20 phone numbers - which "accidentally" included a known raving and rabid OMB journalist from the Atlantic.

Defending the indefensible. We can discuss what “should have happened” and “how to keep things encrypted” all day long. Fact is, Hegseth, Waltz and the rest of those clowns didn’t do that and committed a massive security blunder.

Had this fuckup not been brought to light, do you think these idiots would have continued their group chats,on Signal?

Maybe they should have thought first?

Naaaaahhhhh! Truth.

The word you are seeking is called "transparency" and the WH has been open and clear about what went down, to the best of their knowledge. Someone should be held accountable.

He's a hack without ethics in my book. Clearly, the whole affair smells like a set up from the git go. Originally Posted by Why_Yes_I_Do

Waltz right now is the only one showing a semblance of accountability. And he isn't the one who did the inappropriate sharing.

A nothing Burger? According to Trump Waltz won't put this type of information on Signal anymore.

If the information was not classified or sensitive how come Tulsi Gifford did not want to share it with Congress? Do you think the pilots of the F15's would want that information shared with a journalist from the Atlantic? According to Trump the Atlantic is going out of business. LOL.

Trump blamed it on new technology and suggested that Waltz won't be using Signal anymore. How hard is it to check a distribution list with less than 20 people? You would think that Waltz has never used Microsoft Outlook before. LOL. Just about everybody uses that or Google's Gmail.

If this had happened with Biden's Secretary of Defense Loyd Austin, the republicans would blame it on DEI and it would be on Fox news for six months. Originally Posted by adav8s28

who says it didn't happen on Biden's watch? unless it was a FOX reporter accidentally included the media at large would have covered it up and you'd never know it happened.

you did see the part that Biden's admin endorsed using signal yeah?

the Atlantic intentionally sensationalized the material they accidentally got access to.

if Waltz now claims he was responsible for the invite list then even if there had been any top secret material shared by Hegseth since it was not his task to build the invite list it wouldn't be his fault

i'm so glad no one in this forum ever fucked up a meeting invite list ever! we are prefect .. yeah?

Not the Atlantic's doing, boys. No matter how you try to spin it, this is TOTALLY on the Turd Reich.
Wrong as usual. This has been shown to be the Atlantic, and one reporter, lying again. But the usual suspects instantly grab onto it as gospel. Another swing and miss.

sorry some of HDG's reply is private

the poll and the results are disingenuous by framing the chat as unsecured. the focus on Hegseth is also misguided at best at worst a typical political hit job. factor in Trump and it's obvious it's political. signal is a red herring there was no hack and the chat was secure. the data classified is irrelevant because everyone who was supposed to be invited was authorized to see it. Walz claims he managed the access list so it's his mistake. even The Atlantic's mistaken access is meaningless because they weren't going to pass it to the Rebels and it was useless without further details anyway. yes it's that simple.

Hegseth stays and should stay because Trump wants him to stay. and we all know Trump is stubborn so the safe bet is he'll double down on Hegseth. if Walz eventually gets thrown under the bus to make this go away then it's just another day in politics

Signal is okay to use but not for attack plans. You didn't hear Trump tell the Press that Waltz will not have to apologize and he won't be using Signal anymore. You did not hear Waltz reply "Yes Sir"?

If it was such a nothing burger why is Elon Musk helping out in a investigation to make sure something like this "Never Ever Happens Again". That comes straight from the mouth of our 27 year old press Secretary.
