PBS and NPR

Ahhh, a stomp down memory lane.

Howdy Doooody and Romper Room were not broadcast by PBS. Nor was the Mickey Mouse Club or Captain Kangaroo. No federal funds ever paid for those programs.

Your recollection is as false as your accusation that 1970S Sesame Street was a tool for indoctrination.

ICU I’m beginning to worry about you, bro.

Seems like you have abandoned the topic of this thread for an angry march down memory lane.

My reminisces of public television are of the adult variety. What can I say, I was precocious unlike the Big Bird watchers here that seem to still be watching. Great Performances and the British television are the only thing left. You can subscribe to Britbox.

Of course if you want to fund NPR and PBS...I can write up some treatments for new, conservative programming. I'd love to bring back Miller's Court. I have an idea for a radical, female representative who finds love with hard working, conservative, blue collar man who throws her whole perspective for a loop.

A penny for any "information" outlet is too much. Why doesn't the left dip into their reserves if it is that important. Originally Posted by Schwarzer Ritter

Why so sour on USA having their own???

I would think donations are tax deductible. Let 'rm eat donations. Originally Posted by Why_Yes_I_Do

Leave those programmes on PBS. ... Defund NPR.

How soon you forget when a repub was president and Congress freely let PBS get funding. Is that why they get a hall pass?

Personally, The could strip funding from both. Wanna bet they'll still be around?

Picking cherries, again, mate?

So you want to keep one publicly funded info source (the expensive one) and can the cheap one because ...

And the walk cross the room . . .when the first wireless remote casme out it was an amazing thing. Many boomers still call a TV remote "The Clicker" from the n oise the TV made when mechanically switching channels.

And there was a remote back than. It was the kid closest to the TV that changed the channel when instructed to do so.

Knee jerk reaction of the left. If anyone on the right takes a stand, the left has to oppose it. Not because of the problem but because of who the messenger is.

Americans more likely to support than oppose continuing federal funding for NPR and PBS

About a quarter of U.S. adults (24%) say Congress should remove federal funding from NPR and PBS, according to a Pew Research Center survey conducted March 10-16. A larger share (43%) say NPR and PBS should continue to receive funding from the federal government, while 33% say they are not sure.

NPR has a broader listenership than any other radio station in the United States. In fact, 44 million weekly listeners across the country. Even more impressive is the representation of demographics.

Our reach is wide and deep. Over the course of a year, 58% of all U.S. television households—over 130 million people—watch PBS. And thanks to our loyal viewership, we’ve ranked as America’s No. 1 most trusted media institution for 20 years running.

The PBS News Hour was ranked 2365 yesterday. Right behind Anderson Cooped 360.

Weekly viewership is estimated at 5 million according to PBS fast facts. By comparison, CBS gets over 6 million viewers during prime time only and every night.

Still trying to justify the indefensible.

Do you really listen to The Fish Fry?
